Speaking of my friend Jeff, in about 40 minutes, he'll be joining me at my friend Hal's pool for a few hours of sun and swimming. Haven't been there this summer, so it should be a nice change.

I believe your cable guy is trying to sell/rent you their box, so I believe he's mistaken. If I were there, I'd be glad to see what I could do to hook you up so you could record. It's a shame to let that part of your equipment go to waste (unless you have no need to record anything).

I know! My DH, who calls himself my resident AV geek, hasn't figured it out yet, and it's very inaccessible right now, because we have one cat who likes to get back behind everything and macrame the eletrical cords.

When we move, we will have to figure out new solutions since the TV will be in a bookcase. It we can't figure it out how to make it work then, I may have to have a phone consultation with you.

Speaking of...we've been painting the last week, again. It takes forever on this house, where you have to repair and undo crappy work done in the past. But we're getting there. It's just so SLOOOOOOOOWWWWW!

And speaking of movies...

Among the coming attractions yesterday, were trailers for "Captivity" (now that one looks like a gruesome horror flick), "Shoot 'Em Up" (Clive Owen is in it, so I may give it a chance), and "Stardust".  WOW!  What a cast: Robert De Niro, Claire Danes, Sienna Miller, Charlie Cox, Ricky Gervais and Peter O'Toole!  Now that one certainly looks interesting.

Awww... Thanks.  Yes, I did just indeed wake up.  I still can't believe how tired I was last night, however, I think that was related to the small bag of Caramel Crisp with Nuts I had yesterday.  And maybe even the Monkey Cake too.  That was just too much "bad" eatin' for one day.

And as for the new Stephen King movie, well.. Um... No.

I have ONE of the two sheet music folios which were published, the tan one; I never tracked down the white one. . .

The white one is still in print.  Although, I've seen the tan one still sitting on some music store shelves from time to time in my travels.

I am amazed at EDISAURUS' stamina! She works double shifts, then goes home to paint the house!

I also empathize with how looonngg these projects can take. Marvelous Matt and I have been busting our respective buttchecks (if DR LAURA can say it so can I!) since early January to finish up the projects on my house. We've had several minor set-backs recently, but, thankfully, nothing major. And we're over two months behind schedule. Both Matt and I have a lot of renovation experience, including estimating these projects. One tends to forget that things don't always go smoothly when doing the estimate. I also neglected to factor in MERCURY RETROGRADE!!

And as for undoing crappy work, I learned the other day that the crew who painted the exterior of my house last fall "repaired" the rot on the outside of one of the french doors using joint compound instead of bondo or a consolidator. It looked fine at first--I checked it--but, less than a year later it's no longer adhering and must be undone and then done properly. Oh, yes. I do know about shoddy work. Of course, had I been pleased with the work they did last fall I would have hired them to do some of the interior painting. But I don't think they look that far ahead.

Sorry about the rant. It's most exasperating.

And speaking of DVDs... And aren't we always...

The Virgin Megastore is in the midst of their ever-present, ever-ongoing "$10 Sale".  While going through the bins the other day, I noticed that they had a bunch of 2-disc sets on sale for, what else, $10.00.  And some of them normally retail for $25.00 or more: the three James Dean flicks ("Giant", "East of Eden", "Rebel Without a Cause"), the still sort of newish 2-disc set of "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers", and a couple of other "steals".  Decisions, decisions.

However, I also came across a special anniversary edition of "Fletch".  Did we really need a Special Anniversay Edition of "Fletch"?  Alas, that was just on sale for $15, but still.. ???

Morning, all...

DR Danise: Glad to hear your sleep study went well. My first technician was not as amiable as yours sounded...she barely spoke with me while I was there.

At my follow-up with the neurologist, he told me that I have sleep apnea and I was waking up an average of 27 times per hour, which he called a moderate level of apnea. Some people wake up up to 80 or 90 times per hour, meaning they NEVER get sleep. He also told me that the apnea was the main reason I had to get up to pee during the night. It's not necessarily that you HAVE to pee, it's that you stop breathing and wake up and realize you have a full bladder. If you were having rolling REMs, though, you most likely have a minor case of apnea (if you have apnea at all), as most of us never get to REM sleep because we keep waking up when we stop breathing.

I had to go back for a second sleep study with my CPAP machine so they could determine the pressure levels that would work best for me. It was amazing how I fell asleep and had probably the best night of sleep I'd had in 15 years. I woke up the next morning feeling so good! Then I got on the subway and thought I was going to vomit. Seriously. I think because it was the first time my body had truly rested in so many years, a great deal of the toxins that I'd been holding onto were released, much like they are after a massage, and it made me nauseated. Once I got my own machine, though, that wasn't a problem...I just started having crazy dreams for a couple of weeks while my body adjusted to getting real sleep.

It's fascinating how much goes on when your body's "at rest."

Since I've lost so much weight now, I can actually sleep fairly soundly without the CPAP machine, though I wear it every night just in case...
