Goodnight all. We've just finished the final disc of Series three of "Deadwood". I do hope the final movies get made but at least there was more of a resolution than with "Carnivale".

EPA=Equity Principal Auditions. All shows at certain levels of contracts must hold these auditions for active Actors' Equity members. BK's casting director will be there along with myriad other people to see if anyone from the open call should also come to BK's auditions in August. These auditions (there are a huge number of auditions this week) are for Brain from Planet X but also for other shows as well, including DR Noel's show Such Good Friends. Noel's auditions are on Friday (IIRC) and they are being run by a different casting director. Actors auditioning for Brain today will be looked at for other shows as well since each actor needs to bring with them 5 pictures and resumes (stapled together please).

Morning Deb (and Vixter even though she's not there ).

Mmm, your appetizers and finger food sound great. I just ate my oatmeal with an apricot and raisins but I could go for some rosy meatballs at lunch!

BTW, I am REALLY enjoying Milla's new CD.  Her pleasing mix of head and chest voice is reminiscent of another singer I admire - Barbara Cook.

Interesting, DR Ben, about your presentation.  I didn't know you could embed sound in PowerPoint!  Are you doing the recording at your home PC, like you do for the radio spots?

No. There is a computer in a training room. It has a sound card and a microphone plug so I'm taking the mic into that room, closing the door and recording the narration. As long as the computer has a sound card you don't need recording software. I record the narration for each slide which is easier than recording one long (24 page) chunk of talk. If I was using recording software I could edit the problems but this is easier because the single page narration is much easier to fix or record again.

Lar, he's not auditioning today though I did tell him you would be at Equity all day. If that's not a reason to go to midtown I don't know what is  :D

He will be going to the other auditions in August.

Buffalo Wings were "invented" at Frank & Thresa's Anchor Bar in Buffalo in the early 70s.  They were a great Italian restaurant and had a lot of chicken wings left over after using the better parts in various dishes so they decided to fry up the wings and serve them with celery sticks, hot sauce and blue cheese dressing.  They caught on there and soon became more popular in Buffalo than Beef on Weck.

So these are BRAIN auditions, but without bk?

I don't know from EPA calls. I only know about the Environmental Protection Agency!

I've been meaning to ask about that, too.  Is the EPA there to keep out the real toxic stinker shows?

Sadly, no.  And, sadly, they don't keep out the really toxic stinker actors and actresses.  ;)

WOW! 5 Pictures and Resumes?  Will there be five production teams behind the table?  The last time I played a NYMF EPA, they limited it to three productions for each round since the rooms at Equity are only so big - and they only have so many tables.  I just hope they put them in one of the bigger rooms, cause that small room - no ventilation, no windows - is small.

...And then if you happen to have one team who is "slower" than another (taking notes, conferencing, etc.), it can make an already long day longer.  "Move it along folks! Move it along!"

I think they are being held in the two back rooms which are usually used for Dance Calls (it's also where we do the gift bag packing for BCEFA). You're right, that one front room is small and cramped and when it's hot outside, it's hot inside.

There used to be two small rooms but the Equity monitors have taken over the first room for their use. It has a locker and a table and it gives the monitors a chance to get away from crazy actors (I use the term crazy lovingly, cause I used to be a crazy actor)
