People could just write in questions...

What is the best route from Richmond to New York?

Where can I find the most delicous banana pudding in the tri state area?

How do you make mayonaisse?

Who left with whom after that late night party at you know where?

Jose Knows!!!!

With a companion column called  " I Blame Jose"

DerBrucer have you considered getting TIVO?  It can't do anything about those large pop-ups, but it might help with your recording concerns.

I can't image how TIVO could do more than my COMCAST integrated DVR - the problem is with the networks not adhering to their on-line schedules - TIVO would fall victim to same scheduling lie the my DVR does.

Speaking of healing... an update on little Sarah our 9 year old neighbor who is bravely fightly cancer of the sinus,

She has finished 2 rounds of chemo which has reduced the tumor by about 75%  (HUZZAH! but we're not out of the woods yet)

she is now undergoing radiation therapy which may have the side affect of causing permanent hearing loss.... your prayers and vibes are very welcome

~~~Super Vibes for Sarah!!~~~
I forgot you have a DVR.  We didn't have a problem with TIVO recording the current episode of The Closer-lucky I guess.  We didn't record anything else.
July 4 no picnic after deportation
Quote
Gay Bi-national gay couple vow to stay together after battling HIV, Hurricane Katrina
LOU CHIBBARO JR
Friday, July 06, 2007
Roi Whaley, 42, was born and raised in rural Gumbo, Mo., and has lived in Gulfport, Miss., for the past 24 years. He says the Fourth of July has long been one of his favorite holidays. But this week, Whaley, a supervisor at one of Gulfport’s waterfront casinos, says he’s struggling to retain his belief in what it means to be an American.
Whaley stood by his domestic partner, Aurelio Tolentino, 34, a native of the Philippines, for the past two years as Tolentino waged a losing legal battle to fend off a U.S. deportation order brought about because of his HIV-positive status. A U.S. immigration law bans HIV-positive immigrants from staying in the country.
On July 11, five days before he would be subject to arrest and deportation, Tolentino is scheduled to fly from Gulfport to Billington, Wash., where he will rent a car and drive 30 miles north to the Canadian border. In a process arranged through his lawyers in the U.S. and Canada, Canadian customs officials will allow Tolentino to enter that country as a “refugee” from the United States.
...
In what he calls a heart-wrenching choice between remaining in the U.S. or joining the man he loves in Canada, Whaley says he will move to Canada as soon as Tolentino obtains legal resident status there, as expected by his lawyers. At that time, the two gay men will marry in Canada under the Canadian same-sex marriage law. As Tolentino’s legal spouse, Whaley will be eligible for permanent resident status in Canada. The two plan to live in Vancouver.
As a registered nurse, Tolentino expects to find gainful employment in Vancouver, where nurses are in high demand, just as they are in the U.S. He has worked in hospitals and health care facilities in California and Mississippi since arriving in the U.S. in 1999.
Authorities found out about his HIV status in 2005 when he applied for permanent U.S. resident status and took a required physical exam and blood test. When the blood test turned up positive for HIV, immigration officials immediately denied his residence application, revoked his work permit and issued a deportation notice.
Citing the U.S. Immigration and Nationality Act, as amended in 1993, immigration authorities informed Tolentino in a letter that the law bars “any alien” from remaining in the country if they are found to have “a communicable disease of public health significance, which shall include infection with the etiologic agent for acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS).”
...
...Tolentino moved into the trailer and quickly got a job at a Gulfport health care facility.
By that time, immigration officials had revoked his work permit, but that didn’t seem to make a difference in the hurricane-ravaged Mississippi coastal areas, where doctors and nurses were in great demand.
“Nobody asked him for a work permit,” Whaley said.
“It’s just so unreal and so difficult for us to comprehend that we have to leave this country because of HIV,” Tolentino said. “We’ve been crying a lot, and it’s very hard for the two of us.”
“If Canada is willing to give me a refugee status, then I’m up for it and I’m going to embrace that country and basically give all my life to that country rather than this country,” he said.
“It’s not like a hatred kind of thing, because I really like the U.S.,” Tolentino said. “But if they accept me as what I am in Canada, then I will accept them with all my heart.”
Unless they have founded a new border town that I am not aware of, I believe the article means Bellingham, WA.
Just a question for those in the New York area.  Does the PATH train still run from Manhatten to Jersey City, NJ?  Would it be any cheaper to find a hotel or an apartment on the Jersey side and take the PATH in September?
And if I may take a moment to brag...
Yesterday I was shopping at the GAP with a co-worker who'd forgotten to bring his work pants with him and only had beachwear with him. Anyway, they had shorts on sale, so I thought I'd try on a couple of sizes to see which worked and which didn't. Well...all I can say is that I'm now wearing a size 30 waist. Not even my very own ever-lovin' mother can remember the last time I wore 30s... :D
You have reason to be proud, Jason.
I'm all caught up on today's posts, but did not have a chance to read last night's yet.  But I was wondering did anybody else watch the Victoria Beckham: Coming to America show?
I wasn't really planning to watch. But i thought i'd try it and if i liked it I would watch. And if it didn't interest me I'd turn it off.
I loved it!  I don't even really know that much about Posh Spice.  I've heard bits about her. But i don't even think i've ever heard or seen her speak in an interview.
It did take me a bit of time to get used to her personality. But I loved loved this show. It was hilarious.  And now i'm wondering if there are more parts to the series (next week perhaps).
Just curious if anyone else liked it/watched it!
Btw, is anybody else following Big Brother this year. What do you think?
Just back from seeing Gypsy again.  Someone asked me the other day if I thought it would hold up on second viewing, given how much I loved it the first time.  I said yes.  And it did.  100 percent, and then some.  I don't know why this particular production moves me so much.  I just find it transporting.  When it ended, I just wanted it all to rewind and the whole thing to start up all over again right then.  I was literally the last one out of the theater.  The usher followed me up the aisle and shut the doors behind me.  I just didn't want to go.
Edisaurus,
You may convey to your masters at TNT that some loyal viwers are getting damn disgusted with the schedule fiddling - last night The 8 PM Closer ran into the 9 Pm Closer which ran into the 10PM Heartland, which ran into the 11 PM Cold Case - this makes taping and viewing these shows ponderous. I was planning on trying out the new TNT offerings, but if this is a sign of things to come, I'll look elsewhere.
AND -the damn pop-ups and overlays are getting bigger, more frequent, more intrusive, and increasingly annoying!
I will pass it on, but when I mention anything like that or the overhype of the shows, which we hate doing (I could tell you stories...) the big boss response is "Yeah, but it works"...
I find the pop ups annoying, too, but I think they're getting a little less intrusive. I caught the end of CLOSER and the popups I saw had ID shots of Treat and Holly, where before it was Treat coming through the hospital doors and Holly getting blasted with God's death ray or whatever that is...
So the plain ID's seem better to me. They still are bigger than they used to be, though!
We wrapped the brass a half-hour early, the strings twenty minutes early, and now we're doing a few guitar overdubs and we're done.
Had they taken my advice and used Mr. Geissman, we would not be doing these overdubs.  I'll say no more.
Grant Geissman should be EVERYONE'S first choice in guitarists!
