WAIT FOR IT
« on: July 30, 2007, 12:05:29 AM »

Well, you've read the notes, the notes were - wait for it - notes, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - we're - wait for it - waiting for it to happen and we've been waiting for about four years.

Favorite Marlon Brando movies:

Superman (the first one)
Guys and Dolls.

I think that those are the only two Marlon Brando movies that I've seen. ::)

Does anyone have any thoughts on the Tom Ripley book series by Patricia Highsmith? I enjoyed the movie version of "The Talented Mr. Ripley," and I feel that I'd enjoy the books, but I wonder if any of you DRs (particularly the librarians in the bunch) are familiar with the books... Any opinions...?

So...

I'm type, type, typing away, and chat, chat, chatting away a little earlier, when a friend I haven't seen in years IMs me.  And it turns out that he's in town for the weekend, and that he was at Gypsy earlier tonight too!!!!!  And since he's staying at the Beacon, and since he's flying back to Florida in a few hours, and since he decided just to stay up until his car service came, well... We decided to meet at French Roast on Broadway - one of the many 24-hour bistros in town.  And that's what we did. We had a great time catching up, and they were surprisingly busy for a Sunday night/Monday morning.  And I did allow myself to indulge in their gratin of macaroni and fromage.  Tres, tres, delicieux!  And a cup of their surprisingly good chocolat chaud, avec a cruller.

So, he should be on his way to Newark about now, and I probably should be heading to bed.  Of course, I'm now sooooo wired.  Part adrenaline, part sugar/chocolate high, part just good ole good times natural high.  -And it's a full moon too!  -Which probably means I may just end up staying up all night.  Which actually seems like a reasonable idea.  If one can truly be reasonable at 4:38am.  ;)

I do not care for Mr Brando's "mannered" performances much at all.
I did enjoy "The One Eyes-JackS" but not much else.

I'm pleased for those who enjoyed "Gypsy" and that Ms LuPone was so well received.

Each to his own - I find the voice "ugly". I've tried to "adjust" to it. I find Bernadette irritating at times too. (Her "Song & Dance" recording is  - for me - unlistenable)

DR JoseSPiano - Glad you had a great time catching up.  However, the last time you pulled an "all nighter," just several weeks ago, it wasn't pretty.

DR JoseSPiano - to refresh your memory: You stayed up all night before your recent train ride home to Virginia - and then reported the next day that you were kind of a wreck and didn't "bounce back" like you used to.  Or something like that.   :)

OH!  That's right.  But I don't have any traveling coming up today.  And I don't think it was a full moon either.  I just sometimes stay up during full moons.  And that "habit" started in college when my Song Literature teacher came in one day to class not looking so hot - and she always looked hot.  Well... We asked her what was wrong, and she said that she never really sleeps during full moons.  So... Of course, 28 days later, we all walk into class having not slept well, if at all.  The power of suggestion.  For better or worse.

Ugh!  And from what I just heard, I guess the full moon is having an effect on my roommate and her boyfriend!  And she's on the second floor... and my door is closed... and my A/C is running! :-\

BTW, thanks to DRs JoseSPiano and elmore3003 for their theatre reports from last night.  Sounds like quite the evening.  And John Bolger is quite the cutie.
