THE METAPHYSICAL ME

Well, you've read the notes, you know all about the metaphysical things I spoke of, and you are therefore ready to post metaphysically and also re our topic o' the day.  To it, I say.

Ever since BK first mentioned his impression of it, I've been thoroughly intrigued by the concept of Don Knotts as Tevye. :D

Oh no. :( Not Fiddler. I was scarred for life, I tell you, scarred when I saw a production of it a few years ago in Philly at a high school. Hodel was in her 40s. She and Tevye could have been lovers. That is probably the most horrific you can get.

I always thought Hodel should have been named Hotel.  After all, you've got Motel, you should have Hotel.

All right, everyone, I must retire to dreamland. I'm going to bed while the sweet strains of Billy Joel's "Lullabye" run through my head. Goodnight!

Hehehe...I remember when Jed understudied Tevye for a summer prodution.  Apparently his understudy cast of daughters was causing some rather incestuous thoughts for Tevye :)

My 3 daughters were hot!  And, funnily, two of them were older than me! :D

Okay, let's have Don Knotts as Tevye, Mary Tyler Moore as Golde, Ruta Lee as Hodel, Brent Barrett as the Rabbi, Ann Reinking as Fruma Sara, and Cady Huffman as Yenta.

For Tevye and Golde, I suggest Harvey Fierstein and Rosie O'Donnel.  When they get bored, they can trade roles.

Rabbi: Pope John Paul II

Golde: Michael Jackson (His voice is high enough and he already has the makeup)

Tevye: Brenda Vaccaroo (Her voice is deep enough)

Britney Spears, Jessica Simpson, Chritine Agulara and the Olsen Twins as Tevye's Daughters

Michael Musto as Yenta

Fruma Sara: Joan Crawford with her voice dubbed by Carol Richards (Fruma Sara is dead and so is Joan. So why not?)

Motel: Tom Bodett (Karma point to the fist person who knows why)

Perchick: Jeff Stryker (If anyone heard him sing country & Western knows why)

Fydeka: Ashton Kutcher (Or he can have an affair with Golde)

Motel - Barry Williams
Perchik -  Christopher Knight

I liked Cathy Rigby as Peter Pan - but when she talked she sounded just like Tracy Ullman's character "Kay."

Time for your early morning picture of Ben and Anthony's travels to London.

This morning I will show you the hand prints at Leicester Square. They run the gamut from Dame Judi Dench to Arnold Schwarzenegger (sp?).

Here are just a few

The picture looks OK from my computer. If it's too big, let me know and I'll take it off or re-size it.

Back later with casting tips.

Motel: Tom Bodett (Karma point to the fist person who knows why)

Because he shills for a motel chain, I think Motel 6.
So, how do I receive this "karma"?

Actually, I'm glad it's gone.  The fewer things we have to measure, the better.  I'm for banning SUVs.

BK wrote, yesterday:

I thought that's what surfing is... spreading the tide.

I attended the free concert in Central Park with Bell and Chenoweth.  I remember being disappointed that her Glitter and Be Gay wasn't funnier.  As if she was well known for comedy and wanted to show off her soprano.  Couldn't have picked a more wrong song for keeping her humor under wraps, though.

DW Joy is off at an audition.  I hope the snow will deter some of the bridge and tunnel crowd today, but she doesn't believe it will.

As Sammy Davis Jr. was Jewish, I think he'd have made a fine Tevye.  Alannis Morisette for Golde.  Julia Stiles as Yente.  The daughters: the Surpremes.  Their suitors: The Pips.  Lazar Wolf: Wolfgang Puck.  And, as the rabbi, Father Guido Sarducci (Don Novello)

Ben,

I look forward to each day's pictures. Thanks.

For some reason, today's (with just the necessary labels) made me think about a photo that my friend Patty's aunt displayed prominently atop her TV set. The aunt had taken a vacation to the Catskills when Marjorie Morningstar was being filmed there. The framed photo was of three people, each one captioned for the benefit of those having trouble identifying the subjects:

"Natalie Wood"     "Gene Kelly"     "Helen"

And Jennifer, you DO know that throughout the entire show, the place the men come from is showed along with their name? So unless there's more than one man from Montreal, it's kind of obvious who you're talking about...

Well I doubt anyone on here would care that much to look.  I just didn't want to spoil the show by giving his name.  Although I actually don't think they put where he was from. It just said Harold Hersh, pro hockey player Illinois (which is where he plays).

He was the first guy Meredith chose to be the final 15.

DR Jason, didn't Joshua Bell and Kristin Chenoweth break up a long time ago?

Oh and I almost started to cry when some DRs were mentioning Jewish terms of endearment like "shaineh". My grandmother, who I miss very much used to call me "shaineh madoleh" all the time.

DR Laura II, last night's episode of The Appretice was a repeat of last week.  Tonight (thurs) is the new episode from 8:32pm to 9:32pm right after Friends.

Oh, I love Sam.I thought his idea to get one donor to give a lot of money (it was men vs women at a lemonade stand) was brilliant. He was the only one who realized what needed to be done.

DRNOEL - I think DRJOY is correct....neither rain nor sleet nor snow nor gloom of night will keep someone who is basically wrong for the part from traveling miles and miles to waste everyone's time auditioning.

AND I SHOULD KNOW!!!

Hey!  DR Robin_Anderson nice pic yesterday!

Archie update. I just heard from the vet. Archie is stable and showing smalls signs of improvement. The vet suspects an infection. I mentioned that we had recently switched kibble brands. That's not likely the cause of the problem, but I was cautioned to make any future transitions in an extremely gradual manner.

Thanks all for the good wishes and good vibes.

Love the Fiddler choices.

How about Mickey Rooney and Ann Miller in the leads? (Thanks for the inspiration, DRMattH). The show may have to be retitled, Sugar Bubbies.

Well, it took about 2 minutes to answer my question about the Roger Rees NICKLEBY production. The 8 hour show is available on VHS and DVD, but the DVD reviews at Amazon all trash the transfer as being grainy, washed out ports from the VHS masters.

Does anyone actually have this set on DVD and can corroborate that the transfer is so bad you wouldn't want to get it? I don't see A&E spending any money to revisit this set and make it better, do you?

I just read that acclaimed stage actress Uta Hagen has died. I never got to see her on stage, but everything I've ever read about her makes her sound riveting.
