THE BARE MINIMUM
« on: August 29, 2007, 09:31:51 PM »

Well, you've read the notes, the notes were bare but not minimum, and now it is time for you to post until the bare cows come home - they do love to be in the buff, you know.

Do I get the honor of being the first post-BK post?

TOTD

The Nile Valley.

Egyptology has been fascinating to me since childhood. I've not been there primarily because of cost factors and more recently, safety issues.

I would of course like to have a leisurely tour - done in style and comfort. I am way too old to enjoy it otherwise.

(The closest I've been is avoiding pyramid selling schemes - Now of course referred to as "Network Selling" as they are oh so different! NOT)

I can't believe it, but I am only 20 pages from finishing "Gulliver's Travels." After that, I've got "Jane Eyre" lined up...a friend brought it to work for me this evening, so I have to read it next so I can return it to her post-haste. After that...??? I might give "Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell" a second try. After reading the three Highsmith books in one volume, "Strange/Norrell" seems a bit less daunting now...

Jo-Ann Campbell sang "Puka Puka Pants" in 1961.

Another fact that should be more widely known.
(DR JRand of course would be one of the few to already know that fact)

Back from Goodspeed Opera House, where Bill Parry is performing as Papa in High Button Shoes.  I'd never seen Bill do old-fashioned musical comedy before, and this was a real treat!

There's a big piece of Southern fried cheese on TCM right now - The Great Lie, with George Brent and Bette Davis.

You don't consider The Last Starfighter an old-fashioned musical comedy?  Wasn't your first title High Button Starfighter.

I think it's great that Leona Helmsley left 12 million to her dog, Trouble.  I have actually thought of providing for my pets at the time of my demise (which will hopefully be in the very far off future) I would hate to think of someone sending my beloved pets to the shelter.

singdaw - why does your list of NYMF show times abbreviate info for Starfighter and Brain while spelling out the info for Such Good Friends in much longer detail?

DR FJL,
I think I've told you this before, but my neighborhood seems to be full of Corgis. I can think of at least 6 of them. I think of you and the boys every time I see one of them walking their owners past my house.

TOD

I'll join TomovOz in the Nile valley.

Second choice would be an African Safari.

Third choice - St.Petersberg, (not Florida!)

DP Colin and I had considered going to St Petersberg in 2008. (Cost has ruled that out!) We shall stick to watching "Russian Ark" instead.

Good Morning!

Well, I decided to be good guest/roommate for a while and join the party for a bit.  A good bunch of people, and there happened to one guy who actually teaches roller-blading, so we're going to trade roller-blading lessons for vocal coachings!  :)  -Yes, I will ALWAYS wear my wrist-guards!

Of course, right now, I'm sort of being a bad roommate by not helping with some of the post-party clean-up, but since I assisted with the pre-party clean-up as well as purchased a couple of styrofoam coolers for the party, well...  -And I'll probably go ahead and clean the floor tomorrow.  (Since I'm the only one in the apartment who seems to really know how to properly clean a floor - I don't like a Swiffer-Wet'd floor!)  ;)

As for the Topic of the Day...

I would like to go to either the Taj Mahal and/or the Great Wall of China.

A friend of mine just came back from India, and he said his visit to the Taj Mahal was just so much more than he every could have possibly imagined.  And the whole experience of being in India, and being a part of the mass of pilgrims was truly life-changing for him.  I suspect I would relish that whole adventure too.

And I've always been fascinated by the Great Wall of China.  And since I like to walk.... ;)
