As you can see from the photo above, DC Freddy has plenty of fat to live off of if'n he is stuck in someones garage or basement!

Good Morning!

I'm up, I'm up...  And I just noticed that the sink in the downstairs bathroom has a small leak, hmm...

What R&H Tribute was Dame Dench a part of...is that released on commercial video?

In that "16 Going on 17" number, she looked very much like Baby Jane Hudson!

DR MBarnum - Is there a chance DC Freddy went to a basement/garage that he's "visited" before? Have you checked out his former haunts?

I've got a long story about a Fat Conductor of Limited Talent and Limitless Ego who thought he would be living in the first Toyland at East 72nd Street!

You may practice that story on me, DR LarryElmore3003.

Rome.  The Eternal City.  Rome.

Of course Troy Donahue won't be there, but still.....Rome....and a glass of Strega.

Does any DR have the cast album of SINGIN' IN THE RAIN he/she could share?  I want to listen to it before I think about directing it.....

Inspired by the TOD:

Has anyone here ever felt "drawn" to a culture to the extent that you felt connected to it?  I have, and I've often wondered whether other people's fascination with certain cultures might be an indication of a past- life experience within that culture.

Yes, I know the party line on that particular issue, especially within the Judeo-Christian teachings.  BUT, that doesn't stop me from wondering why I might be so attached to these feelings.

My fascination has been Athens, Greece.  In fact, all of Greece, but most particularly Athens.  Athens would not fit into the TOD because I have been there many times.  The first time, however, was in 1974.  I was excited beyond measure to finally be going there and had no idea what to expect.

A small group of us were "touring" a play ("Come Blow Your Horn") around Southern European Task Force military sites in Italy, Greece and Turkey (I feel sure I've detailed this in a previous post).

We were slated to be in Athens for three days and the first day was free time.

My group was under the guidance of a person who had been to Athens often and we went into an area known for good shopping bargains as well as good food.  In the grand scheme of things, I had no idea where in Athens I was or where the one thing I wanted to see beyond anything would be.

But I happily shopped and dined, and when folks were ready to explore a bit and see some cultural sites, I stood and said, "We've got to see the Acropolis."  At this point, our guide had gone his own way and left us to fend for ourselves.  Someone suggested we ask a shopowner for directions, but I was suddenly (?) headstrong and insistent that "it's that way!"  I pointed, and I started walking.  My group followed.  I went down the street and just before the corner, I told the group we should turn left.  As we turned the corner, there looming ahead of us, was one of the glories of history.

How did I know?  Why did I have a voice telling me where to go?  It was a pull.  I've had that "pull" a couple of other times in my life that led me to exactly what I was looking for despite my not knowing it existed or where to find it.

Or, maybe it was a "push"?  Who knows.

Has anyone here ever had experiences like that?

I could guide you on a tour of Rome, Jack!  I wore out several pairs of shoes there (during my 9 1/2 years in Italy during the mid-70s, late 80s-early 90s).

You can sit and sip your Strega, but pardon me while I pig-out on a pizza with a robust rosso.

BK, I dined at the Westway Diner a few times while I was staying at Rodzinski's apartment...and just over one block you will see a Turkish restaurant that we ate at...it was swell! And I do believe you and Cason and BJ would enjoy the cute little Turkish waitresses. I know Rodzinski did!

Not that I'm complaining.  And notice that I said, "almost" - although for some it might be more than "almost".  Hmmm.. Looks like he's had the operation.

You hold everyone prisoner and send for Rose (Allison Hayes) - the dance hall girl who knows where the stolen money is buried.  ;D

Can't say that I have.  I'm envious!

While I had always been interested in ancient cultures -- and I have great fascination with the Egyptian dynasties and the Roman empire, in addition to Greece -- Greece was always a stronger pull.  Of course, it wasn't until I was there that I actually felt like I had been there before.

And that's also true of London.  But London, it seems to me, was a more "recent" lifetime ago.

Perhaps "Fiorenze" and "Venezia" would have a similar effect after you get there.

Buy the book, DR RLP.  Should be available at any local bookstore with a MetaPhysical or New Age section.

Ted Andrews has several small books that are great introductions to different subjects.

And I couldn't think of a finer guide to Rome. :)
