REVITALIZING THE PROSE

Well, you've read the notes, you've understood their inherent meaning, you know the topic so all that's left to do is post until the cows come home.

I hope none of those late-night denizens who were just sitting there like logs (at least LauraII responded) are going to post now.  Uh uh.  See you in the morning.

Hey, I was off checking some other places while staying on here.

Der Brucer is exhausted, but happy to be home.  And I should see about getting to bed soon, so we can get up and get things done tomorrow, and then head over to the Purple Parrot for some yummilicious prime rib.

Oh, I made some cookies, too, with dried cranberries and oatmeal!  I don't think they're going to last very long, with my favorite cookie eater back home!

For example, I can see that George is "replying to this thread".  He has been replying to this thread for ten minutes, just as he was replying to this thread in last night's topic, said reply never showing up.  Just what do we suppose George is typing and why do we suppose it doesn't show up?  This whole evening is worthy of Agatha Christie.

George has apparently written a novel which needs careful editing before posting.

I was reading the end of yesterday's notes and by the time I wanted to respond, the day changed and I lost my entire post.  I hate it when that happens. :(

Anyway, I ushered for Kate Clinton's performance here in Olympia and she was great!  The Washington Center for the Performing Arts holds about 1000 people and even though they sold between 600-700 tickets, there were very few men in the audience.  I counted less than two dozen on the main floor (which holds over 200 people) where I was seating people.  It was one big, giant roomful of women!  Kate put on a great show.  She talked for an hour and a half without stopping and everyone laughed the whole show.  Afterwards, she came out (no pun intended) into the lobby and gave autographs and spoke with anyone who wanted to.  A good time was had by all. ;D

And then there's Jed - Jed who just thinks he can come waltzing in here like a flibbitigibbit, readin' book reviews as if they was books.  Well, I'm SORRY Jed, but you are NOT going to see LauraII in her pink PJs unless you ATONE.

THAT, dear George, will be the title of your autobiography: I'm Weird That Way by George, by George.

And then there's TCB - he's viewing the main page, which means he's off somewhere in his house having a meat sandwich whilst picking his toes.  I mean, honestly people.  PEOPLE, work with me.

Ok, my question for all dear readers (since I don't think anyone saw it before :)): what is the first cast recording/album/showtune to which you were exposed (as far back as you can remember)?

Yes, I've been showing as being online here for quite awhile, but I was simply doing other things and hadn't updated the page in about an hour.  So I was most definitely not being obstinate and not posting, I simply wasn't really here, even though it looked like I was.

Happy day to Mr. Charles Pogue!

LauraII, you, of course, will know the answer to that question as you continue reading that book you're reading.

Look at Jed - he just sits there like a big piece of whitefish, like some unearthly Buddah, staring at his screen, hands in his lap, whilst he repeats, "I won't post, I won't post, I'll show them."  He sits there like a dead herring in the moonlight, like some errant and truant biker.  Well, Jed, that's just fine with all of us because we are having FUN.

First show album I recall?  That would be A Chorus Line.  I'm sure I could sing "Shit, Richie" at the age of 3. :D  That and the Annie OCR were two of the most played pieces of vinyl during my childhood.

What is this doing other things?  There are no other things.  Other things are for fools and simpletons.  THIS is the thing.  THIS, right here.  THIS IS THE THING.  This is the girl - oh, a Mulhullond Drive reference.  Well, GEE, Jed, can we get you a latte or something?

I feel I am on a roll here.  Or perhaps I'm on a role here.  Or perhaps I AM on a roll - a kaiser roll.  Have you EVEN read the notes, Jed, old stick?  Have you EVEN.  I'm on a roll, baby, and nothing can stop me now - oh, a Newley and Bricusse reference.

Ok, my question for all dear readers (since I don't think anyone saw it before :)): what is the first cast recording/album/showtune to which you were exposed (as far back as you can remember)?

The first musical cast recordings that I specifically chose to listen to were Ain't Misbehavin' and Sweeney Todd.  For some reason, I checked them out of the library to listen to when I was writing a paper about geothermal energy for 8th grade science.  I fell instantly in love with Ain't Misbehavin' but it took me a while to warm up to Sweeney Todd.  Since then I have learned to love all that is Sondheim.

Ah, now we hear what the "other things" are.  Now, yes, now, now we know.  The truth is out there.  You were doing "other things" with Jed - you were not reading books, you were canoodling with Jed.  You and Jed sitting in a tree.  Well, I'm sorry, but Jed will have to ATONE for this.  He will have to wear toreador pants, a frilly blouse, and spiked heels and he will have to LIKE IT.
