Let's call it a "rhetorical" question.  I don't think I'd want to read the literal truth....unless a mild relaxant was involved.  I guess they don't sedate them under those circumstances.

They sedate them

DR singdaw - For now, my Poppins duties are restricted to day rehearsals, so if I get asked to come in for A Chorus Line, I can still cover the evening shows over at the Schoenfeld.

And once I get the Key 2 book learned at Poppins, then it's just a matter of scheduling.  And keeping track of my schedule.  It's actually quite common for some subs to cover anywhere from two-five - or even six different shows.  I have a friend who at one point and time was covering five different shows all at once, and there were a few weeks last summer where he was playing a different show each night of the week (Rent on Tuesday, Hairspray on Wednesday, Mamma Mia! on Thursday, Wicked on Friday, etc., etc.).  It can happen.  Some people thrive off of that.  I can't.  I don't.  And I won't.

Went out and bought some more Ricola's and EmergenC, plus a new supply of Alavert.  I'm stocked up now, but I hope I won't need this junk much longer.  Got my usual tw pizza slices for dinner - I ate exactly the same as yesterday just for superstition sake - I figure if everything is exactly the same maybe I'll get another good night's sleep - and we start a half-hour later tomorrow.

bk - I'd be really(!) careful about taking Alavert and Nyquil at the same time.  Your excess grogginess this morning could very well have been caused by over-medication.

Callie doesn't get to come home tonight, she's in the Animal Hospital over night and will receive another warm water enema in the morning.  I went to visit a couple hours ago.  They encourage pet owners to visit their pets who have to stay overnight.   She seemed better than she was at home, but kept trying to poop to no avail.  I told her to get even with the people who were doing strange things to her by pooping all over the place.

Anyway, we won't know for a while. I'm hoping she can come home tomorrow.   They were able to break things up a little by manipulating from the outside. That had to hurt after the sedative wore off.   She was pretty good with me, but when the assistant came in to take her back to her cage she gave me a very evil eye then started howling and hissing.

In other news..

I'm feeling better about Poppins.  I was a bit more hands-on during the teaching portion today, and that helped a lot.  I, still, for some unknown reason, just want the fast songs to go faster - and even the slow songs to go faster.  But I do sense that whatever "block" I put up for myself with this show is finally eroding.

The second part of rehearsal was devoted to choreography, mainly "Supercal...".  Consequently, I had a very easy afternoon.  There's a whole lot of spelling going on!

And tonight, I will be auditing the show from the Conductor's Suite.  This way, I can actually play along with the show - and not have to sit in an uncomfortable make-shift chair in the pit behind the pianist.  I may just end up staying for Act 1 - I just don't want to Poppins myself out.  -Or would that be Mary-ing myself out?  ;)

DR Jane, Callie takes lactalose twice a day as a stool softener and a small amount of prednisone once a day to help keep the calcium level in her blood down

There was once a former convict named Driac.

A poor man, he was often seen wandering the streets, sniffly and sneezy, raspy and retchy.

Every time I would see him, I'd call out:

"Hi, po con, Driac!"

If you are a pianist and in the pit you are behind the pianist, does that make you pianist number two?  And is there a pianist behind you?  And does that make you nervous?

The proper typo was "'wichcract", not "witchcract".

A question for the computer-knowing:

If one doesn't have an icon on the desktop for the recycle bin to click on, how does one empty it?

If you are a pianist and in the pit you are behind the pianist, does that make you pianist number two?  And is there a pianist behind you?  And does that make you nervous?

The trains will meet in Lafayette, IN at 12:05pm.  ;)

???

I'm not sure how to read your query... And whether or not I should be reading anything into your query.  In any case...

For Mary Poppins, there are two pianos in the pit.  The "Key 1" player plays the Grand Piano, and the "Key 2" player plays the Upright Piano.  There is ample sitting room behind the Key 1 player.  However, the "observation chair" for Key 2 is makeshift cushion that folds down from part of the set rigging.

Now, if I were at the Schoenfeld tonight...  There are three keyboards, and three keyboard players. Key 1 covers the "original" piano book with some Rhodes and celeste here and there - much like how the original piano book was set up.  Key 2 covers guitar and harp (and some celeste and strings).  Key 3 covers strings and some synth effects.  The observation chairs in that pit are next to the keyboards, players.

As for getting nervous when someone is behind me, someone is observing... No.  I actually like when I have someone auditing - it actually sort of takes some of the pressure away strangely enough.  I go into "teacher mode".  Plus, I have someone to talk to during the breaks.  -And over at A Chorus Line, since we're in a room under the stage, we can talk in non-hushed tones, as well as watch the show on a nice flat-screen TV monitor.

Is that what you wanted to know?

...And if were talking numbers... The last time I checked - and this was last summer: Over at Mamma Mia! at the Winter Garden, I'm one of at least 10 designated subs on the Key 2 book, and one of at least 15(!) designated subs on the Key 4 book.  (Since I had played the show on the road, I was sort of automatically put "on the list", but I have no illusions that I'd be getting called to play any time soon.)
