AND...The Manhattan Transfer are performing in Seattle at the end of this month!  They're playing four nights (two shows each night) at Dimitriou's Jazz Alley!  I've never been to Jazz Alley, but my sister has gone several times.  I'm going by myself (because I can) but the only night that I really can go is Friday, September 28.  And because they're doing two shows in one night and I'll be in Seattle already, I went ahead and bought one ticket for each of the performances that night!  I'll actually get to see them twice! :D

Lucky you, George! I also like the Manhattan Transfer and I HAVE been to Jazz Alley. I used to make frequent trips to Seattle when I first moved to the East Coast. I like Seattle very much. Enjoy the show!

Best body-dress match:

God, she's sexy!!!!

Oh, I love it when men compliment mature women! But, tell me, am I the only one who thinks there's something WRONG with that dress? The two front sections aren't joined properly or something.

...I guess I'll have to check YouTube for the clips from the Emmy's.

Which Jersey Boys cast did they use?  The NYC/Broadway originals?  Or the ones from the current tour(s)?

...As far as dresses are concerned.  *But I also think it could be the angle of the shot that could be skewing the seams.

Thanks to both NOEL and FJL for their comments on the NYMF. It's interesting to hear comments from behind the scenes. I, too, applaud their aim and intentions.

My own experience with arts organizations in general is that many of them are poorly run. My local PBS station falls in that category--wonderful programming, but they can't seem to get much right organizationally. A real shame. No one loves public television more than I do, but they continually shoot themselves in the foot.

I don't have an answer, but I personally would love to see more venues for new works of all sorts.

You could be right, Jose. Satin is also difficult to work with. I think that design would have looked better in another fabric. Just my taste.

I am happy that so many HHW related shows have found a home at NYMF...and I wish them success.

The last couple of weeks was filled with the Indianapolis Fringe Festival, and I must say I wouldn't go see a Fringe show even if it was free.

Last night I watched the latest episode of MAD MEN, which was very good.

I like this show very much....some good actors and actresses....and the final few moments were most intriguing.

At the Meijer store today, there were FOUR books about Hillary Clinton.

Two of them had lovely airbrushed photos on the cover and had titles that intimated that she was our country's only hope and the savior of the world.

The other two had really scary pictures on the front and seemed to compare her to Hitler or Saddam Hussein.

And it's only September, 2007.

I spent my Emmys evening between "Hollywoodland" in HD (an interesting film I shall never watch again) and the FilmScoreMonthly Message Board thread on the high def format wars.  Let's just say I was reacting to an apparently functional moron whose sole argument in favor of his position is to hurl insults at those who question his claims (which are ludicrous and not based in fact/reality/rational thought).  The thread was closed down this morning, though, so I won't be able to work off any extra energy there today.

I read with amusement, this morning a thread at fSM Message Board that BK started on the film "Robinson Crusoe on Mars".

I was "amused" because BK pegged one poster exactly correctly and then a few "strange, new posters" chimed in defending said poster as having all sorts of horrible things done to him by BK, which was absurd.

This sort of thing has happened before.  I've often thought one guy whose initials are FAT had a couple of extra "log-ons" at various sites...log-ons he would use to come to his own defense when he was (yet again) backed into a corner by his own silly devices.

Those posts by these "strange, new posters" were posted consecutively, saying essentially the same things in praise of "said poster" in the same badly constructed/poorly spelled sentences.

And then "said poster" came on to thank them for being perceptive and appreciating him.  I find it very odd that only "said poster" can suddenly amass such loyal defenders.

I really think "said poster" is a major nut job.  On the other hand, he produces some gorgeous CDs, along with his wife.  So...it just shows to go you.
