I also had a neighbor who put on spook houses in his basement. I was in one of them, wearing a skeleton halloween costume when I was very young and got so scared i wet my pants.   He reminds me of that every once in awhile.

We also did a production of the Wizard of Oz in his garage.  He was the wicked witch and had a box rigged up so he could melt.  Gees, we had fun over there.  I think his dauchsand (however you spell that) was Toto. I can't remember who I was, the lion I think.   I was the Tin Man in our law school production.

I was the Tin Man in our law school production.

Must have been lots of law-student competition to play a character without a heart 8)

Miss Annette Funicello's mother passed away earlier this month. :(

I had no idea she was a personal acquaintance/friend of yours.  So sorry for your loss.

My question for ASK BK day?

What is your favorite classic studio opening logo?

The Paramount Mountain, The Fox searchlights, the MGM lion, the RKO Tower.....the Republic Eagle.....the American International clouds and Capitol Building?

Definately the old Universal globe with the sparkling stars and the fun musical accompaniameent that it had in the 1940s. Very art deco

Andrew Sullivan's blog in THE ATLANTIC has been running a contest for the best mvoie line ever.

So far the tip five are:

"Oh Charlie, oh Charlie ... you don't understand. I could have had class. I could have been a contender. I could have been somebody, instead of a bum—which is what I am," On The Waterfront

"I love the smell of napalm in the morning." "Apocalypse Now."

"What we've got here is failure to communicate." "Cool Hand Luke.

"I'm shocked, shocked ..." Casablanca

"These go to eleven" Spinal Tap

Where to the professional bloggers get such clever ideas?

And here is another contest:

Welcome to the magical world of Portland where we have Hairy Potter for mayor.

OREGON LIVE

Quote
Mayor Tom Potter returned from his camping vacation with a new look: tan, rested and bearded.

STEPHANIE YAO / The Oregonian

We asked if he was keeping the whiskers. He wanted the public to vote. Here's your chance.
Should Potter shave face? Or Keep Portland Beard?
