For the DOCTOR WHO fans: The seventh Doctor plays a fool to Gandalf - but a ticket is pricey:

$2,295 a ticket? Now, That’s High Tragedy

der Brucer

just a tad pricey....

Was not overly keen on Sylvester McCoy. I did like a few of the stories he did.

Good morning, fellow Dear Readers. I am glad to see that as of midnight, today's speaker has finally sent all her stuff for today's service. I hope.

I would find it very frustrating....

I hope she did and it is now perfectly done...

It wouldn't surprise me if they weren't working on this!

HOME, SMART HOME: HOW TO TALK TO YOUR HOUSE

Quote
What do Heidi Klum, Matt Damon and Bill Gates have in common? They talk to their houses ... and receive pretty efficient replies.

Imagine leaving work and instructing your cell phone to turn up the heat so your home is warm for your arrival. Imagine sitting in a business meeting and using your phone to doublecheck that you turned off the iron. You can even speak to your refrigerator and request a glass of bubbly.
This is no longer a dream for futurists. This is the latest in smart homes.

Another bonus is that the smart house can even send messages, warning homeowners that a light bulb is about to blow or that the refrigerator is almost out of milk.

I sometimes wonder how much of the imagination from science fiction truly ends up in real life?

Granted there are some obvious things such as prototypes for cell phones and things like that.

You can see them talk to ships issuing instructions on both Star Trek and Blake's 7.

But is it any more cryptic than coming on here and telling someone "You have a PM from me" or "check your email."  Either way, you're letting  a person know you want to tell them something, but still not share the content with the group, right?

I'll tell you what I think if I see you on the 30th.

After the show, she had copies of her book available for purchase and she had posters for signing, too.  One fan brought her some beautiful roses, but she's leaving for California in the morning and didn't really have any place to put them, so she gave them to me (I've got them in water now).  I took a picture of her with them (I love this picture):

No, DakotaCelt is correct.  Someone else gave Penny the roses.

Back in the 1980's my project had just packaged a PC on-a-board (a single board PC-AT!); a sister division also had in development a GPS sytem on a board (we already had data link stuff)

Great says I - Lets package them together! We'll put a box in a car trunk and a screen on the dash that will provide real-time navigation data to a driver. And for trucks, we'll add a barcode scanner so merchandise can be scanned in and out and dispatchers at a central location will be able to track individual packages. I even put together a neat Power Point presentation to give to our VP.

The result - not interested, no real market need!

So I went back to steering nuclear missiles!

I get very sensitive during rehearsals.  Please be patient with me, and please use smilies very liberally.  :)  :)

Hmm, if I got busy today, I could probably reach my next plateau!  Of course, I would probably end up with finger burn; and I could do more damage to my shoulder.  However, according to the surgeons there isn't that much wrong with it anyway.

Working in engineering one sees lots of potential projects--and sooo many of them never get funded and brought to fruition. I suspect lots of senior managers are kicking themselves for not having the vision that others have.

YES DR MattH, it was me who was a fan of WHAT ABOUT BRIAN.

But i must say the show changed a lot from the first episode till the end.
It was like a totally different show.

I can't remember how many different hiatus/breaks they had. But by the end the show was a lot better.

Btw tonight apparently they are showing recap episodes of both DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES and BRTOTHERS & SISTERS. I think i will record them both to see if they show anything interesting.

I forget if i mentioned this. But i watched the new CW show GOSSIP GIRL (is that the exact title?).

Did anybody else see it (it's on tuesdays in canada and wednesdays in the US)?

I really liked it.

Kristen Bell (VERONICA MARS) is the voice of Gossip Girl. And i love her (even if it's just her voice).

It's sort of THE OC meets ONE TREE HILL. But it shows every teen with their blackberries and cell phones. aNd it's quite cute.

I wasn't really expecting to like it that much. and i'm not sure if it's too girly for other DRs. But just thought i'd share.

Probably nobody here is watching the Red Sox vs Devil Rays on TV... but I keep seeing a commercial for ATT&T with an actor, middle-aged, with a moustache. Last line is "Monty, what's up."

I recognize the actor, I know I've seen him in something, but I can't place his name.

Anybody recognize this commercial?

Hello all and sun-dried....

I just thought I'd pop in for a minute and share a few pics of the mornings "Ladybird Johnson" enterprise and work.  This first picture is of the miniature Bird of Paradise plant that has been in a container up til now.  It now resides in my front entry-courtyard under the window of my breakfast room
