I wonder if DR Jose has ever taken part in Coney Island's The Hot Piano Society:

First Saturday of the Month

The Hot Piano Society is an informal get together with an open piano. We just keep a list of who wants to play and what they want to play. The scope of music we welcome includes ragtime, stride, trad jazz, boogie woogie and like minded music.

DR edi  - The trains to White Plains almost run around the clock from Grand Central - Hudson River Line.

You can check for schedules HERE.

I grew up a block away from the Cyclone in Coney Island, in the area formerly knwon as Luna Park amusement park.

Good grief...I'm busier than a hooker on nickel night.

Sorry I haven't been around much lately.

But, I have good news! Broadway called. I'm going into HAIRSPRAY!!! Here's the first of my promotional shots... Whaddya think??

They've decided to go with a new format...a man in drag is going to play Tracy and a woman is going to play Edna. Guess who's Tracy?!?!?!

(Just kidding...but wouldn't that be fun??)

And whenever I would take the train up to Vassar (Poughkeepsie), I always smiled when I passed "Cold Spring Harbor".  And I've also driven through Highland Falls, but in the spring not the summer.  ;)

JOURNEYMAN ended up being quite excellent. It reminded me of the way both MEDIUM and last year's show RAINES worked. Lots of seeming unconnected pieces that are cleverly connected by the end of the hour. I'll continue watching this one, especially since Reed Diamond, another BIG favorite of mine, is playing McKidd's brother in the series.

Well, why not have both the mother and daughter be played by men?  Heck, with all those "Frankie Camp" alumni from Jersey Boys, I'm sure they wouldn't have to change any keys.

*And then have Wilbur played by a woman in drag.

The one thing I really want to do while we are there is to go up on top of the Empire State or Top of the Rock at night.  I've only been up there during the day and I think it would be really cool to see the lights

I believe there is a discount for Top of the Rock via seasonofsavings.com.

However, Top of the Rock now offers a day/night pass too.

What a day...

Anyway, enough about me.  I'm guessing you all want photos from DR Jose's walking tour of NYC for DR's MissKaren and Cason, huh?

Thank you, Jose! I guess this means he doesn't have an excuse not to work.

At least I can write off his trip!

Have you seen Rick Burns' amazing documentary CONEY ISLAND? It's the film that led me into wanting to make documentaries full time. I love it!

We started off, of course, with a stop by Levain Bakery.
We got one of each cookie (the breakfast of champions, huh?) -
*Chocolate Chip Walnut
*Dark Chocolate with Peanut Butter Chips
*Oatmeal Raisin
and the one I couldn't wait to sample - Dark Chocolate with Chocolate Chips...

YES!

*Although, if you've never done the Empire State Building...

If you have the time, I'd say do the Empire State during the day, and Top of the Rock at night.  Top of the Rock you're basically on the roof - there are no barriers the way it's set up.  Truly one of my favorite places in The City.
