I was a Stephen King fanatic up through Misery and then it was diminishing returns and I finally stopped.  But, up until the bad business of 2001/2002 I had an incredible King collection - all the books in pristine firsts, most of the limited editions, lots of one-off stuff - had to unload it (and a lot of other stuff) to pay the legal bills - yes, the pointless legal bills.

My favorite King novel is The Shining, which I think is brilliantly done.  But I enjoyed all of the books of that era.  My favorite film adaptation of his work, the one that comes closest to capturing the novel and yet works as a film is The Dead Zone, one of my favorite films and one of my two favorite Cronenberg movies.  Carrie is also good.

Congratulations to Keith's Mother at 86.

My Mother lived to be 99 1/2 . With All her wits about her. Quite an accomplishment.

Thank you...and WOW!  Your mother must have been something. :)

I think I got the job at the board game store. The guy said, "I would be inclined to offer you a positon," and then he told me to be there Monday morning with two forms of ID and whatever I need for taxes.

Did I get the job or not?

would you be inclined to accept?

Congratulations, Sandra, on what appears to be a job offer.

Yes, there was a musical version of Carrie and it ranks as one of the biggest bombs in Broadway history. I didn't see it but I have been regaled with stories about the show. It began in London and the divine Barbara Cook played the Mother. She, wisely as I've heard, left the show before it came to Broadway. I have heard there is an ootleg bay opicay ideovay floating around New York.

I'll admit it...I've got a bootleg CD. ;) And I'm pretty sure I got it on eBay!  I got it years ago, when anyone could get anything.  I once bid $75 on a recording of Follies that was supposed to be the complete show from the soundboard, but I got outbid...fortunately.

Well, I'm off to work.  Afterwards, I'm ushering for a local chorus' performance, "Filling the Stage: Great Opera Choruses."  It should be good.  Have a good day, all. :D

It is much easier on my ankle & foot when I hike than it is to walk or drive.  I think it is the soft trails I go on, and those endorphins kicking in when I’m on the trails.

Sherlock was just a big puppy out there today & full of energy.  When he doesn’t listen I remind myself Echo, the almost perfect dog, was just as unpredictable at Sherlock’s age.

He may not always listen, but he can melt my heart when he is so incredibly good when it really counts.  I was very proud of him when he calmed down for the shy lab, and again for an older dog.  Just as we were leaving the trail an active dog he had played with earlier showed up again & then bolted across a field.  Sherlock began following him and then, WITHOUT any prompting from me, ran back to my side. :D

Oy gevalt!

Sorry for my recent E&T...
Lots of things a-changin'.  I guess it's that time of year.

Soooo, let's recap:

*Me and the Ever-Lovin' Heather are no more.
*I've been bumped up into the producer's chair for the LACCTAA benefit (cue "The Producers" score...)
*I'm filling out college applications.

Boy, when you're embroiled in those three things, it seems like a lot more than when you just type it out.

Cason, I'm sorry I missed you.  I was picking up acorns and leaves off of Sherlock's deck & run area.

There are several nice photos of you from NY.  I'm sure one of them will make a good new avatar.  I'm very sorry you need a new one.

Congrats on your bump up into the producers chair.

Great news, what schools are you applying to?

I got mine on eBay too, and the score (which of course is useless) for a while there it was cool to obtain all this swag, but now it seems less cool.

When I went through my "Carrie" phase, I read the actual book so I could understand the story better.  I haven't read any King since.

I have never seen Carrie & don't have an interest in doing so.  If Keith turned it on I would be a good sport and watch it.  I might even like it. ;D

Saturday afternoon greetings!  After sleeping in this morning and having a short visit from DS Rob, I settled in to watch Legally Blonde on MTV (probably the first time our TV has ever been tuned to that station).  What an odd way to watch a Broadway musical - I kept wishing for a Playbill.

His name is "Zachary" and he was the host of a kiddie Matinee TV show showing horror films. Bruce probably will know the complete answer.
