Ah... Andy Karl.  *They sell t-shirts that say, "I've got a package for you".  Would you like one?

As for the exercise girls' vocal.. She really sings it.  However, it does sound like it may have been "sweetened" for the broadcast.  But, I will say that that is one of the healthiest ensembles on Broadway right now, so she's been conditioned well.

Of course....though I might be prosecuted for false advertising!  ;D

I ended up with a nice feeling about LEGALLY BLONDE and think I would probably like it a lot more ONSTAGE than the I did on TV...although I have no complaints....

Nice!  And fun....and a lot of people having a lot of fun onstage and offstage.  Not sure I could take much of the HIGH SCHOOL MTV type of audience behavior....drives me crazy.....but that's okay.

What was everyone's beginning salary at their first tax-paying job?

I made $1.35 per hour during the summer between my junior and senior high classes working as a stock clerk at Columbia Wholesale....my father was a salesman there.  Take home pay was usually about $35!

DR Jose, when Sam and I saw Legally Blonde, Laura Bell held the last note on So Much Better. Both Sam and I commented on how long she had to hold that.

The summer I turned 14, I worked full time at a mom and pop grocery store and was paid $2.00 per hour. My take home after SS was taken out (I didn't make enough for withholding) was $75.32

My mother watched LEGALLY BLONDE on MTV yesterday afternoon, and she really enjoyed it; I got tired of all the commercial breaks, so my watching was between loads of laundry. . .

Good evening, fellow Dear Readers. I am home from my thrilling weekend in Pomona.

They kept us busy from 7:30 a.m. until about 9 p.m. at night. I would have loved to have called BK about some pancakes, but I never had any time.

I started working for $1.00 an hour at age fourteen, assisting my dad loading pastry trucks on Saturday mornings - 4:00am to 12:00pm - and the boss always gave me $10.00 per day; the alliterative company was Princess Pastries of Parnassus, Pennsylvania.  I worked there for seven years, mostly weekends, but, during summer vacations, I was there five days a week, most often in the pastry prep areas.
Continuing with the alliteration, my next job (and horrible - it was) was for Frontier Fabricators, a sheet metal operation.

I'm glad we weren't part of that mess while driving to L.A.  I'm sure we go past that tunnel all the time but have never gone through it.  I'm not even sure where it is.  I asked a friend and she said she only went in once, by mistake when she didn't get over fast enough.

The tunnel in question is south of the Grapevine and north of Magic Mountain. It is intended for trucks, but cars may use it. The signage suggests that all cars should stay on the main freeway, which goes over the hill, not through it.

Good to know.  I had heard reports that she took the breath the night of the taping, and I was wondering if they were going to edit in an uninterrupted note.

Or What about The Steve Allen Show

I ordered a book by Grant Geissman "Collectably Mad" that had a bit written by Steve Allen. Greg got his hands on the book first and wouldn't let it go. He read a bit that Steve Allen had written for MAD and was laughing so hard he could barely read it to me!

Steve was awesome.

Well, DERBRUCER -- you got part of it right.  The tunnels are technically in the area around the Hwy-14 & I-5 interchange, SOUTH of Magic Mountain and the Santa Clarita area.  This is the same area which was greatly devasted by the Northridge Earthquake.  The Grapevine is indeed to the north, about 40 or so miles.  :)

Hi Angela. We have good friends who live near there, fortunately they are out of town.

My first paycheck was $1.25 an hour at the Bruin Theater in Westwood.

Since I come from the Central Valley of California, I-5 is my lifeline to Los Angeles.  Guess I can't blame the snow on closing the interstate this time.  One to Two inches of snow and the area panics then closes the freeway.

$0.50/hour as a hospital laboratory messenger (part time) while in high school.

Upon graduation I went to work for a bank in the duplication department (momeograph operator) for $0.75/hour.

While at the Naval Academy I was paid $115.00/ month.

Upon college graduation I was paid $230/month.

Upon leaving the service, 10 years later, I earned $1000/month in my first civilian job.

der Brucer

Of course off the books, while in high school, I collected $1.00/hour for gardening and baby-sitting (twice the minimum wage!) My Jewish-widow neighbors paid top dollar for my super luck with bedded plants, particularly roses (and I was on the clock when I sat and listened to their stories of "way back then".) I was one of the few male baby-sitters that could stay out past midnight on week nights and be counted on to prepare dinner, clean up, and tend to pre-schoolers (including infants).

Hi Jane -- fortunate for your friends.  I was lucky myself.  If it would have happened a week earlier, I would have been stuck in the mess as I was driving home from the Burbank airport.

My first job was $1.90 an hour.  Worked at a dress shop on the weekends and after school.

On LEGALLY BLONDE:

I enjoyed it more the second time through.

The particulary good use of multiple camera shots for much of the ensemble dancing suggests to me that a considerable amount of post production editing was done. The show had a nice cinematic feel to it - didn't seem like a TV broadcast of a stage show. The musical numbers may not be "hummable" but they do a splendid job of moving the emotional thread of the story.

A better show than the Tony-winning Will Rogers Follies, in my opinion.

Count me in the camp of someone who is not enjoying the MTV version of Legally Blonde.  Haven't seen it in the theater, but it just feels so processed to me - strictly of the Jack O'Brien school of musicals, which is not my favorite.  And the songs just don't do it for me.  If you want my opinion, our own Skip does this sort of thing so much better.

I don't like the camerawork (especially those inane shots from BEHIND) and those three dorky MTV girls tell you everything that's wrong with the world today and why young girls are so, well, young (and old at the same time).  Of course, the nadir was when they said you could order the "soundtrack" online.  Note to idiots - soundtracks are for movies, original cast albums are for shows.
