Of course, the nadir was when they said you could order the "soundtrack" online.  Note to idiots - soundtracks are for movies, original cast albums are for shows.

Sorry, bk, but to the MTV audience they are all "soundtracks" - and many record stores categorize them together.

Someone's deleting posts?

A careful reading of today's posts indicate two separate incidences of post removals (and I was a party to one them).

What was everyone's beginning salary at their first tax-paying job?

My dad had a jewelry store and I worked for him for years wrapping wedding gifts, delivering them, and doing grunt work in the back of the store like polishing silver, engraving Bibles, etc. I never got paid a dime. But I'm not complaining. My parents and I had a great understanding. I didn't get an allowance or get paid for working at the store, but most things I would ask for, within reason, were bought for me. As long as I didn't abuse this system, it worked fine for me.

The first paying job I had was after my freshman year in college. I worked in the proof department of the largest bank in our town. I made $1.60 an hour.

Again, I spent most of the evening with NCIS. My goodness, they threw romantic subplots like mad into the show this season. Jethro, Tony, Palmer, and Ziva all have one or more episodes where there's romance blooming. Ziva's was the sweetest episode, so far my favorite of the season.

I listened to two commentaries with Sean Murphy, neither very interesting. David McCallum had a wonderful one; he's such a classy man. Michael Weatherly's was fun but it was basically babbling about hair styles and clothes and not much behind the scenes information about the making of the episode.

My first real summer job at age 14 paid $1.85 per hour - a very strange hourly rate, if you ask me.

I was going to continue with LEGALLY BLONDE but I was getting close to the end of disc 5, so I continued watching NCIS episodes. Still have 5 more episodes to go plus a bunch more special features.

David McCallum (mentioned in MattH's post) was one of the stars of Skip's show TIME AND AGAIN at Manhattan Theatre Club about six years ago.  What a lovely man!

I enjoyed DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES tonight. Nice to see Polly Bergen back on the show. Nathan Fillion was really smokin' hot tonight.

The gay couple joins the show next week.

I watched Black Book today. It was part of the summer film series here and I missed it. Everyone raved about it, but I guess I'm just not really into the war/spy movie genre.  It was ok, but I guess I expected more. Next is The Wind That Blows the Barley...I think that's the name of it

BROTHERS & SISTERS had a fine episode, very moving.

I felt bad for Tommy and for, of course, Justin. Nice to see Scottie again.

I have been extremely happy with my Netflix this time around. If I mail this back tomorrow I'll have my next movie by Wednesday. That's quick and it's been pretty consistent.

And the big Legally Blonde question of the night: WHERE ARE THE MICS?  Clearly someone at MTV made the decision not to have them, as there's not a one in sight.  So, how did they mic the show for those performances?  Huh?  Unless they taped one without and audience and that's what's making up the bulk of the broadcast.

And these endless commercial breaks and backstage bits - nothing like taking you right out of the story.

Yes, I really hated the commercials, but I guess that's the price we pay for a free showing on TV. Still annoying. Thankfully, I can speed through them once I finally can get around to watching the rest of it.

I recorded DEXTER tonight, so I may get to it tomorrow. FInishing NCIS is the #1 priority.

COLD CASE started late tonight, so I've just decided that I will not bother recording it when it begins late. I'll either catch the reruns or just miss it. It's not like there aren't plenty of other things to watch.

Because sometimes we have second thoughts about "taste".

I have gotten quite a bit accomplished today, cleaning, sorting and throwing many things away.   Now I must sleep...
