DR JoseSPiano, if you collected these audition stories into a book, I'd definitely buy it! :)

So would I...and I'd make the library where I work buy it (whether they want to or not ;))!

Does it show?

[a Babs reference - Hello, Dolly!]

DR JoseSPiano, if you collected these audition stories into a book, I'd definitely buy it! :)

Well, someday... I was actually approached by a publisher a few years ago at one of the theatre conventions, so...

Which leads me to another "favorite" story from today....

Excuse me, this cut is longer than 8 bars.

"Well, it's in cut-time, so two bars make one."

-I responded with a rather haughtily raised eyebrow.

*And, of course, she was singing a song that others had already done before her.  And they all sang the real last eight bars of music.

Now, hopefully Adrianna and Cason will have more time to post now.

Amen to that!

If DR PennyO is riding in a bejewelled chariot, then I'm the horse.

Hmmmmm. . . .really?
I didn't say it, Joe Nichols sang it:  size matters.   :o

Yes, I did indeed see DR EvilTwin today.  And as she was leaving, I passed on my greetings to you through her.

Liguid (sic) stockings were all the rage during the war (THE WAR) when the GI's were using nylon for parachutes and silk to seduce European "ladies":

Smithsoniander Brucer

This was the same time when I had to raid my Mother's dressing table drawers for elastic garters to hold up my high socks because the lousy war-time elastic in my knickers wore out too fast.

Ah. Before my time.

OH!

And I have a new bedroom window.  Finally.  :)

 :D

immature is an understatement! -shaking my head here-  The store should step up and discuss what to do in an emergency.  i hope your visit prompts some action in that direction.

a u sure the "favorite" doesn't work at the store when not auditioning?

What a busy afternoon of viewing I had today. Got a lot accomplished.

I began with last night's BOSTON LEGAL. Had some funny moments and some dramatic ones, too.

I know Denny Crane is a partner in the firm, but Shirley Schmidt threatened to fire him some weeks ago, and I think it's time she made good her threat. Firing someone who's overweight is a ludicrous storyline.

Next came DEXTER. I think it's the first episode of the show that really disappointed me. The entire love triangle business, especially Dexter sleeping with his sponsor the very night he had a fight with his girl friend, only to have her reconsider the next morning after the damage was done was SO soap-operaish. I really thought it was a poorly scripted sequence. (I also can't stand the sponsor anyway.)

Next up was last night's SVU. A pretty good episode, but the local station never put the show in high def since it was broadcasting election results in the lower half of the screen. Very frustrating.

I zipped through the AS THE WORLD TURNS broadcast today. Yep, the gay characters were on, much more than yesterday's previews hinted they would be, but they don't appear to be on tomorrow's show.

I finished up the afternoon watching the rest of the bonus features on THE AVIATOR. There was only one deleted scene, a trailer, and then the commentary.

Jane Seymour has an equally touching story:

"My mom made me do this," she said. "She couldn't talk. She couldn't move. And she somehow managed to say 'yes' out loud when I told her I'd been asked to do this."
"My sisters said, 'Mommy just spoke. She said yes. That means you have to do this,'" she added and said "Dancing With the Stars" was her mother's favorite show.

On Monday, JRand was asking for some pictures of red leaves.  I said that I had my camera with me and would take some pictures outside of the building where I work, and I did...and will now post them for everyone's viewing pleasure. :) (I hope that you all consider them pleasurable. ;))

Here's looking out from the front door:

When you get out to the parking lot area and turn around, this is on the left side of the front door:

And this is on the right side:

And if you go back even further, you get the whole picture (unfortunately, with random cars in the way):

So, DR George, where are all the homeless people?

Seriously, those are some beautiful red-leafed trees.  There's one in the front yard of the house across the street from us, but the sun is just coming up when I leave in the morning and it's dark when I get home.  If there are still leaves on it Saturday, when I'll be home during daylight hours, I'll try to get a photo.

Meanwhile, here's another book for the kids in all of us:  Footwork:  The Story of Fred and Adele Astaire, by Roxanne Orgill, illus. by Stephane Jorisch.

I work at our administrative Service Center.  Since we're not a "public" branch, we don't (usually) have any uncouth interlopers. ;)
