No, and he didn't mention that the trunk lid pops open when you hit a bump in the road either....at least ours always did!  ;D

Healthcare in Canada has its pluses and minuses. Yes it is socialized medicine. But since the government pays doctors less than they are really worth it seems to get them in, get them out with patients. Also it can take months to get a medical test like a Colonoscopy and this has developed into a "two tier" service. If you can afford to pay for the tests yourself you can get them sooner instead of waiting months. There are many private clinics out there that cater to people who can afford their services.

And yes after my recent brief stay in the hospital (about three to four hours) the cost was close to $1000. I am hoping that most of it, if not all will be covered by my insurance.

And the word of the day is: MYSTAGOGUE!
On my way to work yesterday, I passed seven GOUTY MAGES, and there wasn't a single decent MYSTAGOGUE in the lot of them!

Good morning!

It's overcast here this morning, but we're in for a warm spell over the next three days with temps going back to the mid-70s (cold at night, though).

I hope your flight goes smoothly, DR ELmore, and that the week ahead will not be as horrendous as they expect it might be. I'll be thinking about you.

I haven't seen SICKO either, but it's on my Christmas list. If someone doesn't select it as a gift, I'll catch it when it comes on one of the pay-TV channels.

As for health insurance, I'm very lucky. I have a state health plan that's an excellent one (both medical and dental), but I understand how really terrible it is for those who have no insurance. And the costs for those who are paying their own is very high. I think there's no question we need a better system. I have no clue what it should be or how it would be implemented.

I used to work for an insurance company, and when I retired they botched my insurance royally.

Fortunately, I've been at the store long enough now that I've got pretty good coverage from the union.  I'm just waiting until my eyecare kicks in so I can get new glasses.  (Rhinestone frames are catchy, but not really me, if you know what I mean.)

Today I will be watching the upcoming new Criterion remastering of Hitchcock's THE LADY VANISHES. I'm very eager to see the new transfer and do comparisons with the old one. I see that they've ported over Bruce Eder's excellent original commentary.

It's a two disc set, so this is one of those times when the extras are going to be as anticipated as watching the main feature.

The movie is one of the greats. I really hope this new release does it justice. I seem to remember the last Criterion had many age-related scratches and speckles, but I haven't watched it in several years.

The Food Network is pushing Thanksgiving to a faretheewell.

Meanwhile, at the store, there's little in the way of Thanksgiving decorations, but the Christmas stuff is already loading in.  I guess the upper management figures that Thanksgiving draws people in on it's own, no need for additional mention.
