I have fond memories of my 4-H days and when I used to show in a livestock show at NDSU

However,  I have to reserve my funniest observation for Little International, NDSU's livestock show

The last year I did the show in 1987, there was a gal there from Piscataway (or something like that), New Jersey and she was listed as showing a swine.  From past experiences I knew better than to show swine or sheep.  I was showing a Brown Swiss.  Missed out on showing an Appie

The first day we were allowed into the barns to start working with the beasts and grooming, this gal comes in in white pants and open toe high heeled shoes. It left me wondering how the heck she got across an ice parking lot that has the evidence of ND snow removal or the lack of with her get up. Deena and I watched her walk in and proceed to the hog pens. She asked the person next to her how do I make the hog obey and how do I keep my clothes clean?

It was at the precise moment she stepped back and her foot landed smack dab into a pile of freshly deposited cow dung.

She violated two rules...
1. never wear open toe shoes in a barn
2. do not wear something that you are afraid will get dirty. You never know what you might rub against or knocked into.

Jeanne, if amazon actually paid for what I sent then I'd be thrilled.  But it's all consignment, so when I see them sitting on twenty-three copies of a particular CD and they order twenty-seven more, then I have to wonder.

I really want to leave, but the people coming to pick up the CDs are notorious for not showing up on time and today seems to be no different.

I also did a lot of stuff with food, public service and some clothing.

Through 4-H, I did get to go to Washington DC twice and Chicago.

On one of the trips they messed up the listing of people from ND and some of us ended up in the Kansas delegation group of rooms. I did not mind, there two VERY GOOD looking men next door.

On one of the trips we went by bus from Fargo to DC. However, the bus broke down outside of Sterling, MI and we (all 65 of us) were dropped off at a McDonalds. Since it had a play center outside we took that over and declared it for the King of North Dakota!  Complete with a banner and the ND flag... They were not happy with us when we tried to run the flag uip the flagpole.

We even held a mock trail the Montana interloper in our group....

AFter two hours, the bus came back to retreive us from Micky D's and we were off  the wilds of southern Michigan before dipping into Ohio to proceed to Pennsylvania. We stayed at CHambersburg and got to visit Gettysburg.

If you are wondering why we did not go throgh Indiana, that is becuase the bus driver did not want to pay the toll and Indiana scared him.

The bus took a wrong turn off of embassy row in DC and our bus got shot at...

Another highlight was seeing the Soviet Ambassador or some high ranking official at the stoplight next to our bus.

EVidently Red River Trails did not sit well. The bullet lodged in the seat of the driver and missed his but by not even an inch.

This is my only really bad memory I have of DC.

Despite the one summer I was there, it was one of the hottest summers on record.

I will say this, Coca Cola and Pepsi have a very different taste there than they do here.

Wonder if that has to do with the water or how they make it.

Good Afternoon!

I'm back from my morning of auditions... As well as back from afternoon jog at the gym - on the treadmill at least.  A good (and sweaty) 45 minutes.  Whew!  I am now enjoying my post-workout smoothie - Blueberry-Banana today - and trying my best to catch up on the day's posts before I head back out again for Round 2 of today's auditions.

*And I could tell that I probably should have gone to the gym this morning.  -I'm glad I just went, but I could tell that my energy and concentration level was a bit low when I got started today.  Although, playing that Opening Combination over and over and over again could have had something to with my fatigue.  ;)

Number of the Beast department:  back in my occult-laden 20s, I had a supercool baseball jersey made on which was emblazoned 666=543 (some of the Yeshiva boys may know the mystical meaning of 543), and then underneath it said:

Ubermensch--may be too intense for troglodytes.

I loved that shirt.   ;D
