Now, what would someone want with 5 or 6 huge trash bags full of leaves?

I would mulch them!

Speaking of, on one of the wealthiest streets in Atlanta, a lady was raking up huge piles of leaves at the street. Great, I thought! Good for her, not using a leaf blower.

Then she started stuffing them all into the storm drain. Half a block away from where the creek does major flood damage in any rain event. So I had to stop and mention to her that this was not a good thing to do, and she, of course, played dumb. She stopped what she was doing, turned her back on me and walked away, even though I was being very polite.

On my way back from brunch with Mom, the leaves miraculously disappeared, even though there were no leaf bags out in front.

Hmmm...where oh where could they have gone? I wonder...

I was relieved that BK told us that a new year would start in six weeks.  The idea of the old year just ending was  rather frightening.

Did you know that if your mother was a taco; she would live in Tacoma.

I would mulch them!

We thought of that - and Richard does a bit of that before bagging up what he can't grind up with the lawn mower and leave on our own grass.

I am very excited that the original theatrical verion of CLOSE ENCOUNTERS is now out on DVD.  I enjoyed the later versions, but I thought they missed the magic that the first version offered.

I mean, I have taken neighbors' leaves before (with there permission) to mulch them, not that YOU should mulch them!

While at brunch, my back was to the big picture window, but the patrons facing the window all jumped up at once when a guy outside started pummeling someone waiting for a table.

My mother, ever curious, found out that it was an extended incident of road rage. The guy who was beaten had P.O.ed a driver who followed him to the restaurant and then jumped him! Several police cars and a fire truck soon arrived, but no one was seriously injured.

Still, be careful out there, especially with your hand gestures!

I slept very late and now it is very late because I slept very late.  Oh, well.  My pantlegs are in the other room - perhaps I'll put them on.

I was up earlier, about seven, and it was so foggy I couldn't even see my car across the street.

I've made steady progress in clearning my DVR cache.  It's amazing how many movies one can transfer to DVD if one puts one's mind to it...and occupies oneself doing other things rather than sitting and watching the films while they are recording.

"The White Cliffs of Dover" is recording right now.  I finished up "Green Mansions" half an hour ago.  That leaves "The Narrow Margin" which I don't think I'm going to record.  But I'll watch it.

And then it's done.  My cache will be ready for TCM's Thanksgiving offerings.

It's not so foggy here...but it appears to be overcast.  Of course, that could be high fog, but I seem to recall some teaser about rain in the forecast during a commercial break last night.

Still, some folks deserve a good hand gesture every now and again.  The sense of "entitlement" more and more people believe they have to do whatever the hell they please despite the danger they place upon others is reaching epidemic proportions.

Of course, the story above is what results, whether the pursuer was guilty or not of whatever offense he felt the pursued had committed.

If one cannot carry a small "stunning" device, one should at least carry pepper spray, especially if one is not inclined to suffer fools/morons gladly.

It was so pretty that I walked around outside awhile as my baked potato was cooking. However, it's clouding up as I type this. Rain wasn't in our forecast, but now I'm wondering.

While I ate, I watched the end of PRIDE AND PREJUDICE. That disclosure of their true feelings in the meadow brings me to tears every single time. Just like clockwork. So very beautiful.

Next I put in HANGOVER SQUARE and watched it. What a wonderful movie. I know Creigar died before the movie was released, but it would have been nice if Fox had mounted a Best Actor campaign for him. He was so deserving.

The transfer was very sharp and had excellent gray scale, but those little white scratches every once in awhile just infuriated me. I wish this could have been a clean print.

Then, I watched the featurette on the life of Laird Creigar. How wonderful to see our most celebrated Dr. Drew Casper as one of the talking heads in the featurette!

How truly sad that he wanted to be a leading man when he had such force and presence as a character actor. Most people would have been thrilled to attain his level of talent, celebrity, and respect in the industry.

Well, I'm going to a friend's house for dinner before heading off to the theater, so I need to head downstairs to get ready to leave.

The dinner guests have come and gone.  There was a lot of food and Jo gave everyone care packages on their way home.  Alison, andy, and Chase headed back to Tennessee despite jo's efforts to make peace, but there was a nice turnout of family and friends I was really happy to see.  It's been a wonderful today.

I'll work on the Men's Chorus music tonight.  Tomorrow morning Jo and I will go to the Trenton post office to mail my packages, have a little breakfast, run some errands, do a bit of laundry, and finish packing for the flight.

Have a good time.  I believe you'll be seeing the wonderful Nancy Opel in the title role.  She's one of the funniest ladies I know.
