I am home after driving to my parents' house spending the day and eating a HUGE meal. Turkey, my mother's mashed potatoes (with sour cream and cream cheese whipped into them) candided sweet potatoes, orange glazed carrots, rolls, green beans, stuffing, gravy, and I think that's the main course, then pecan or pumpkin pie.  It was all very tasty and I was very sleepy on the way home.

I am planning to finally try to really lose weight after the holidays. I'm looking into going to weight watchers.  I'm starting to think I need the meeting thing to really get me to lose.

I had baked seven pumpkin pies and one each of apple and cherry.

Wow, td! You could open your own House of Pies!

This weekend I have to get some plastic up on the windows on the north and west sides of my house.   it's FREEZING in here and the guy who promised he'd help me seal things up never showed up to do it. SO, I'm going to do plastic this year and will get a better solution next year.

I am quite sleepy, I was up late finishing The Devil and Miss Prym and then had a long day. I want to work tomorrow for at least a while so it's time to get some sleep.

Night and Happy Thanksgiving

...he rumbled as he let out his belt and wondered just how it was he was going to make it through the holidays without busting a gut.

We had Thanksgiving at Greg's folks at 2PM. I always pace myself and eat half of what I normally would because later we go to my mom's.

By the time we got there they had finished eating and everything was put away, and what was accessible didn't look so appetizing so I had a piece of  the ham we'd brought the day before, and dessert. (We brought a caramel pear mousse from our french bakery. Yummm.)

I got to spend a lot of time with my adorable 2 year old nephew. He is so wonderful!

So, tonight, I'm staying at my brother Mike's place.  This way I can spend a bit more time with John Michael, Alyssa and Emily in the morning - when I'm not so tired after being up all night and traveling.  Then sometime tomorrow afternoon, I will be heading down to Richmond with my parents.  They're staying at my brother Don's place tonight, and will be joining him in a few hours to take advantage of some of the Early Bird Black Friday sales.

I'm sorry, but I just can't imagine lining up before 4:00 AM to go shopping.  I know there are sales, but I just don't get it

In New York?  I believe I did.

Why do you ask?

I  just did a murder mystery dinner with a girl that flew out to New York to do some auditions, and that was one of them.

We need at least three frenzies.  It's Thanksgiving, for heaven's sake - are people so pigged out they can't tell us of their feasts.

It's all about bargains.  Electronics are especially desirable at bargain prices.

Fashion makes out well, too.

But I'm with you.  The only reason I'd even consider going out tomorrow is to get the best deal possible that would save my mom some money on my gift.

Funny thing, though....the more I visit sites of stores with sales, the more I find things "online" that beat the prices being offered tomorrow.

I "get" it, but I just don't have it...money that is. ;) I don't get paid until NEXT Friday, so even if I wanted to go to stores at 4:00 am, it would do me no good. ::)

That's probably up to you at this time.

Since it's nearing midnight...and since so few of us seem to be able to resist the sleep-inducing chemicals of turkey, I'm guessing I won't be frenzying sufficiently to get us there by myself.

Speaking of saving money...or not...my sister bought a high-def widescreen TV a couple of months ago for around $2,000.  The exact same model is now available for only $1,200 at the store where she bought it! :P If only she'd waited these few months! :-\

I am also wondering if I am going to be offered a special deal by Amazon.com on their special deal of the day.

I voted for the high-def videocam...and it will be offered to "some" lucky shoppers at $299 (marked down from $999).

I've never owned a videocam.  Heck, I've only just recently gotten my first digital camera.
