You know JMK, everywhere I went, when I was looking at HD TVs they told me not to buy a Toshiba DVD player...the clerks liked Toshiba TVs, but thought they made crappy DVD players.

And I do recollect once owning a Toshiba DVD player...I think it lasted a few months.

I've actually had really good luck with Toshibas--my first DVD player (back when they were $400, oy) was a Toshiba and it was one of the best we've ever had.  And my old laptop from the dark ages of the 80s is a Toshiba and still works--we just fired it up the other day for the kids to play with.  This had been working just great until a couple of hours ago, when I noticed it was beeping when I used the remote.  I had set the beep to "off" as soon as I had gotten it and gotten into the setup menu, so that struck me as strange.  So I tried to get back into setup and it wouldn't let me.  And now it is only reading standard-def DVDs--it says "not play" when I put in an HD DVD.  The customer service lady at Toshiba, who was very nice, was completely stumped.

DR Jane,

I just returned from walking over to the Capitol building and on my way back I spied a lady who was walking a Bermese. I told her that my friends in Ashland had one as well, but I had not seen it in person yet...so this was my first real life sighting of this type of dog.

It was soooooo cute...and just over a 1 year old.

I bet.  Next time you and Bosco go to Medford we can take the dogs for a hike where we went last time.

Thank you all for the dental vibes! I LUCKED OUT! The dentist said he thinks I lost a filling, but the tooth is fine and there's no pain, so instead of drilling (and $$$), we'll leave it. Yay!! I came home a happy camper.

PS Gold is now over $800/ounce. Ouch!

Good news!  They have really improved the white stuff now, matches the teeth & isn't as expensive.  I'm sure you wouldn't put silver in your mouth ;)

I have been putting off getting this bridge the dentist said that I have needed for the past five years.  The dentist doesn't take payments, and my share is $1500.00.  Well, my employer (The State of W) has started a new flex medical program to help cover deductables, co-pays, prescriptions, etc.; and at pre-taxed savings.

The employee decides how much money they want in their account for the year, between $240.00 and $2400.00.  The total is divided by the number of paydays you have in the year; and that amount is taken out of each check from the gross amount of your salary.  The good thing is that as of January 1, of 2008 the entire total I have authorized becomes available to pay those things that aren't covered by my insurance.  So, in January I will get my bridge, and then next January, I can use it to pay for Lasik surgery.

Very pleased to read that NBC's CHUCK has also received a full season pick-up. I'm very, very happy about that.

That's great!  I love this show, too. :)

Brendon Fraser is adorable with hair or without.  If I had known that is hair was thinning, I would have advised him to start taking the blood pressure medicine that I take.  Without it, I would probably be nearly bald.

Just had to log on to see DR TCB's new avatar that everyone's talking about - very creative!

I'm so-o-o-o sleepy and am glad to be working the late shift (noon-9) tomorrow.  At least I can sleep in a bit.

At lunch time today, I went to the local Fred Meyer to look for a shirt or jacket or something in their big-and-tall section as a costume piece for the scenes where I play the sheriff's deputy.  I found some plaid fleece-lined shirt-like jackets ($42) that would work well, but they're not really the kind of thing that I would want to wear after the show is over. :-\ They were 50% off though but, read on...

Right next to those were some other jackets that were $58 ($14 more) but would also work for the show.  I really liked these jackets a lot and know that I would wear them when the show is over.  The great news is that they were also 50% off!  Only $29!  AND I had a Fred Meyer rewards coupon for an addtional 30% ($8.70) off!  AND I had three coupons with specific dollar amounts off anything that could all be used at the same time for a total of another $19 off...so with tax, I only had to pay $3.01 for this brand new $58 jacket!!  I LOVE it when this happens!! ;D
