No COLD CASE on tonight, so I don't have to worry about an NFL runover.

I take it that it is very cold up north right now.  Lots of that stuff you all call "Snow"--which I still believe is a special effect since I still have never seen it.  ;)

So let me use this milestone post to thank DR FJL for inviting me to The Little Mermaid last night with him, Skip and their good friend Pat.

What a fun show!  I just loved it.
So colorful - a visual treat.

Sherie Rene Scott has always been one of my favs, and her Ursula does not disappoint.  And that costume - wow!

The woman who plays Ariel - Sierra Boggess, is lovely.  A beautiful voice, and she looks exactly as you would imagine the character would look.  She's new to Broadway - and they made the perfect choice casting her in this role.

Thank you Fred for a wonderful evening.

New episodes of DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES and BROTHERS & SISTERS tonight. Love the shows, so I'm really looking forward to them.

Try as I might, I can't summon up much curiosity about TIN MAN. And I adore Neal McDonough, but I'm not sure I want to invest six hours on this.

I'm with you abpout TIN MAN, DR Matt H; when it was first announced, I thought it might be fun, but after reading the reviews, I'm rethinking my options.  Besides, I'm more concerned with not missing the two new episodes of LIFE this week.

Yesterday, DR Matt wrote (and I hope he doesn't mind my quoting him on this:

Quote
TORCHWOOD had an excellent season finale, one I enjoyed immensely. And, of course, a nice cliffhanger that will make waiting for the second season to start pretty unbearable.

SPOILERS re Torchwood and Doctor Who

I hope you are also a Doctor Who fan, Matt.  The cliffhanger, as far as Captain Jack was concerned, was resolved in that show's final three episodes of the third season ("Utopia/"The Sound of Drums"/"The Last of the Time Lords").

Exactly how those events will be interwoven with the start of Torchwood's second season should be resolved very soon, when BBC America starts airing the new stuff in January.

Today I will be continuing with some MURDER SHE WROTE episodes. I may also watch THE ODGER with Laird Creiger. Hopefully, there will be a featurette on the disc that involves Dr. Drew Casper, THE authority on all things 2-th-Century Fox!  :o

You can bet the farm on it.  ;D

I just watched Hangover Square for the first time last week and rather enjoyed it.  The commentary was delightful, too.  Started, but haven't gotten very far, with The Lodger.

I must say there is one annoying inconvenience with the Toshiba HDDVD player--it does not remember where you stop watching some HDDVDs (strange--it's some, but not all), so you have to start over each time if you don't finish in one sitting.  I did some Googling, fearing I had another defective unit, but it's evidently endemic to these particular players.  Hopefully a firmware upgrade will take care of this particular anomaly.

May I also add that Leslie Bricusse's lyric for "And We Were Lovers" is not exactly his finest hour.  ;)

At least the music really is by Jerry Goldsmith this time--did Jarre and Bricusse ever collaborate?

DR JMK - you must ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS finish a movie before you put it away.  There are people starving for movies all over the world, and you leave some!

Does the Toshiba not offer a bookmark feature so you can mark the place you stop if you don't finish a movie?

I do remember reading that this was a gripe about the first generation of the Toshiba players, but I thought they would have dealt with that in the second generation. (Or are you using a third generation model  DR JMK. I can't remember.)

When I first read that TORCHWOOD wasn't showing a second season until January, I thought it might be January of 2009. I didn't know the second season had already aired in England. Two months is not TOO long to wait.

BTW, I don't watch DOCTOR WHO though to see Capt. Jack Harkness in action, perhaps I should start even though he only makes sporadic appearances.

Did you hear about the singing group out west whose members all went on a diet together?

It's the Mormon Tab and Apple Choir.
