Meanwhile, no one's answered my question of a little while back.  Does "stuff" actually happen AT the reservoir, or is it like a bar on nightclub where people meet?

My impression is that The Reservoir is like snow.....but then everyone knows that joke.  :o

You never know how many inches you're going to get, or how long it's going to last.  ;D

There's nothing like a good snow joke, and of course, that was nothing like a good snow joke.

(that referred to my post, not Jrand's, of course.)

I'm listening to the lovely Wanda Sa, one of many sexy Brazilian singers from the 60s.  In the Astrud Gilberto mold, which is okay by me.

Wanda was Sergio's vocalist in Brasil '65, which is how she got her Capitol deal.  She is also the ex-wife of Edu Lobo, one of the most incredible composers post-Jobim.  Among his many classics are "Pra Dizer Adeus (To Say Goodbye)," "Casa Forte" and "Upa, Neguinho."  Edu and Wanda's son Bena has a couple of CDs out.  BK, you owe it to yourself to get Edu's album with The Tamba Trio--you will be in aural heaven.

That reminds me of the famous "Driftwood" number on the Mary tyler Moore variety hour.

Here is a topic.....worst musical number in a film.....where you think a fine song was ruined by presentation:

My first nomination:

Lazy with Mitzi Gaynor, Donald O'Conner, and Miss Marilyn Monroe.

Maybe it's just Mitzi's horrible outfit that drives me nuts.

I remember the great camp classic TV commercial of the early 1970's with Mitzi Gaynor bursting out of the "Alice blue gown" and come-hithering with a vampy "Uh, huh, huh."

The Reservoir - I assume much like "The hill" area of London's Hampstead Heath.

But then that doesn't really answer the question.  Ah liasons!

Bad versions of good songs - Have we watched the NBC-special version of "We are a Family" from DREAMGIRLS lately?

If not, we should.

Had a nice lunch out. It was warm and relaxing. It's clouding up right now so we may be in for some rain.

The dumbest ending ever for a movie musical.

I began my afternoon viewing with last night's CSI: NY. Two murder cases, one very gruesome (an exploding cigar takes off a man's face) and one really tragic (a young kid on a bicycle hit by a stray bullet.) I enjoyed the show very much though the mysteries weren't very mysterious.
