Guy:  I'm taking ya to see your boyfriend.

Ann Miller:  I didn't know you knew Walter J. Walters, Jr.

Guy: Anyone who's been to a zoo knows that ape.

Glorious dialog from "Eve Knew Her Apples" - and all I am doing is waiting for "You Can't Run Away From It" on TCM.

Good morning!

This should be the last of our "summer days" in December. It's been nice having the warmth without the crushing humidity which accompanies such temperatures in August and September.

That PBS Jerry Herman special sounds wonderful. I'll be looking forward to seeing it.

My favorite Herman:

"It Only Takes a Moment"

"I Don't Want to Know"

"Lovin' You"

"Song on the Sand"

"I Won't Send Roses"

"That's How Young I Feel"

"Mame"

I got up very early this morning (don't know why; I guess I had just had enough sleep), and after getting the bedroom areas cleaned and the newspaper read, I settled in for some viewing.

I finished the episode of RICK & STEVE that I had started last night but stopped in the middle when CRIMINAL MINDS was coming on.

In it, Rock found himself driving a monster truck at a truck rally, and it was very funny seeing these things done with toy people and toy trucks.

Then I started my next TV box set - DIRT starring Courtney Cox Arquette. I watched the show on FX, and it's a wicked guilty pleasure. Great lead performances, but very salacious storylines that require a lot of suspension of disbelief.

I got the pilot episode watched. The others, as I recall, are narrated by the show's resident schizophrenic photographer Don Konkey. I'll continue watching them this afternoon and this evening. There are 13 episodes in the first season set.

DR TCB, to answer your question from last night about the two gay characters in AS THE WORLD TURNS:

the actors are playing college freshmen. I'm sure the actors are older than that in real life. However, maybe you should look back at your freshman picture in your college yearbook. We looked VERY young back then. I look like a baby in my freshman picture.

There are some new episodes of shows on tonight: CSI, SUPERNATURAL, WITHOUT A TRACE, LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT.

The ABC slate (UGLY BETTY, GREY'S ANATOMY, PRIVATE PRACTICE) consists of all reruns.

TOD:
I'm ashamed to admit that I don't know my Herman scores as well as I should... I saw Carol Channing's 4,000th or 4500th "Dolly" lo these many years ago, and spent many a beery Saturday night singing "Bosom Buddies" at various and sundried piano bars, but never really spent the time to learn all the master's songs. One of these days, I suppose... I love his bittersweet songs ("Time Heals Everything," "If He Walked..." "Look Over There"), and an old friend did a killer version of "Wherever He Ain't" that made me love that song as well.

I guess folks saw the Golden Globe nominations this morning. I have seen very few of the movies up for awards at this point. Only HAIRSPRAY of the best picture nominees.

I noticed they put Travolta in the supporting actor category. Not worthy of a nomination, I don't think. If they were going to pick a supporting actor in HAIRSPRAY to nominate, I would have chosen James Marsden.

Stubby Kaye.....liked him in LI'L ABNER and GUYS AND DOLLS....but he is doing the SAME schtick in YOU CAN'T RUN AWAY FROM IT, and even with songs by Johnny Mercer & Gene de Paul....it wears thin....so to speak.

DR MATTH - The Adventures of Rick & Steve usually give me a few laughs, and as you said, the visuals done with stop motion toys are pretty funny.

Older Man to his Younger Lover:  Promise me you'll see other people after I'm gone.

Younger Lover:  I see other people now.
