Well I made my way to the mall to get a haircut today. BOY! Was that a mistake. I literally drove around the parking lot for 30 minutes before finding a parking place.  But, I really wanted to get my haircut, so I kept going. Not sure I like the cut, but I'm trying to grow it out so, it's going through a phase.

I did a little shopping. The Humane Society was there with animals.  They tried to talk me into adopting 2 cats...they were about 12 years old and had been together for 8 years.  I just can't imagine adding two more cats, especially the older ones....plus one was named Boo Radley.  I couldn't have 2 Boos. But for a moment it was tempting.

Der Brucer is probably getting hungry.  I'm roasting chicken breasts with ginger tonight.  That and carrots, and RiceaRoni, the San Francisco Treat.

A fellow came to my register today with a cart filled with canned goods - over $230 worth.  Yep, it's time for contributions to be made.  I like people like this.

Cilla, as tempting as the two cats were, wise decision to pass.  With all the health issues your two have had it might be best not to add the stress of new cats.  Yours are doing so well right now :).

I avoided the mall by purchasing donations in people's names from Habitat for Humanity.  They may not get the visceral thrill of a gift, but I'm hoping the good work that HFH does makes up for that.  :)

Oh, I wasn't seriously considering it. I have enough health issues adding two 12 year olds would only increase them

SWW that is a lot of cans!  Last week as we walked into the market we passed school kids collecting canned goods.  When we left the store with a bag full of cans there was no one there to give them too.  Keith remembered we had passed a different group of students selling trees and collecting cans.  We caught them just as they were leaving.

Oh, DR MBarnum, you've made a common faux paws, Miss Dixie Bell enjoyed all of the company; Missy Minx resides in an urn in the china closet behind my computer. . .but, I'm sure she was here in spirit.  ;)

...I didn't buy anything, I just couldn't move anywhere in the store in order to buy anything!  It was CROWDED!  So crowded that they had the store staff "ration" the use of the main escalator in the store ("Stop... Go... Stop... Go...") - and were even letting customers use the employee elevator in order to help control the flow of the crowd.  We did manage a few minutes in there with Alexandra, but even she wanted to leave after being shoved for the umpteenth time by various and sundried mothers and their children.

In other news...

I ended up meeting Carlos, Teresa and Alexandra down at Bryant Park after they had seen The Radio City Christmas Spectacular.  The original plan was for Alexandra to go ice-skating, but when we saw that the line to get into the skate rental pavilion was about a 100 people deep - and at least an hour and a half wait - we just took some pictures, then headed to lunch.

*Alexandra was willing to wait the hour and a half, but when she saw that the line was outside in the cold, she said that it was OK that we go to lunch instead.  ;)

Although you can barely tell now, there were literally DOZENS of cookies on the island in the kitchen today; I had requested "no gifts, bring a batch of cookies instead" and friends and family did.   ;D

I should now go and watch a dvd. . .with a strong cuppa joe in my hands.

I am hoping that DR SINGDAW meant from the back deck of his mother's home....rather than from his mother's back deck.

Carlos was in the mood for some Cuban food and wanted to go one of his old stand-bys, Victor's Cafe.  So we hailed a cab, and headed up to Victor's Cafe.

We had a good meal, but I could tell that Carlos was a bit put off by the re-vamping and "nouveau-ing" of their menu.  -He's been going there for that past 25 years whenever he came into town for business.  Oh, and I guess I should mention that Carlos is also from Cuba, so...  Truth be told, I was a little underwhelmed with the meal too.  The food was good, the portions were adequate, but the prices seemed a bit high for the homestyle cooking.  We were definitely paying for the presentation, and the midtown rents.  The service was also a bit spotty, although they did react quickly to Alexandra's spilled Shirley Temple.

I do believe you are correct; thank you.

Must now watch a Bollywood movie...this one just came in the mail today...the new Punjabi drama MITTI WAJAAN MAARDI (2007), one of several fairly recent films out the the Punjab area of India starring popular singer Harbhajan Maan

I have seen all of his films now, and have noticed that the same actors seem to be in most of these movies.
