In other news...  Yes, I slept in, but I also realized that there's really only one errand I need to run today, and I can take care of that later this afternoon.  In the meantime, I'm going to back my bag...

Remember Jojo:  Just because you're going home for almost two weeks, does not mean you have to pack 14 different changes of clothing.  You can do laundry down in Virginia.

Then take care of some additional cleaning and tidying up...

Throw out the junk mail.  Throw out the junk mail!

Then it's off to meet DR elmore for dinner.

That all seems very doable.

*I'm just glad my mid-day(!) flight tomorrow is out of La Guardia (and not JFK).  I won't have to leave here until around 9:00am.  No boarding the A Train at 3:45am again for this trip home.

I know this is a dumb question, but if a show is an acknowledged mess and still being worked on diligently.....why charge $50 a ticket and keep running?

Wouldn't it be more prudent to take the time to make it good...and THEN start selling tickets....and then MORE tickets because the show is GOOD?

I guess they need to see how an audience reponds to the changes implemented. That used to be why previews had reduced priced tickets, but I think those days ar GWTW.

I guess I'll head down now, check mail, tidy up some things, and I'm preparing a very light lunch in preparation for a large meal tonight.

To paraphrase a famous quote..

Actors (and technicians and musicians and theatre owners, etc., etc., etc.,) must be paid.

If DR KayeKid doesn't watch his back, Val Kilmer is going to start claiming he IS Danny Kaye.

This is true.  And I know Equity (that again) has specific rules about rehearsals and changes once a show opens, so who knows.  8)

Question for Ask BK Day:

What is the status of the stage version of TFNM?  Is it still a possibility for the future or has it been put on "hold" or abandoned?  With most new musicals based on mediocre or bad movies, I would think that a stage version of the best musical film of the 70s would be a natural.

DR ELMORE & DR JOSE and any other DR who saw ENCHANTED....do you think the dancing at the ball looked so strange because the choreographer was told the song would be a waltz?

My BK ?

At what point did the song "Baby, It's Cold Outside" become a Christmas song? The film it was in Neptune's Daughter I believe had nothing to do with Christmas. (Going by the plot synopsis)

I have no idea - anyone else?

2nd BK ??

How did you come to write the notes for After the Fox and Irma la Douce?

Lukas Kendall of Film Score Monthly was helping Ryko with the releases and asked me to do the notes for those two.

About to depart for the departmental holiday festivities.

Where I shall sit in the corner like a grinch and grimace at anyone who approaches.

Well, it appears my vowel challenged eBay seller was legit--I got my complete Man from UNCLE today, and it appears to be geniune.  If I play the discs and they turn out to be Bollywood films, well, MB has a lovely unexpected package coming.

Question for KayeKid - Since you've been playing Danny Kaye in Kaye's life story, are you finding that when people do stage projects based on projects that Danny Kaye did in the past, they're thinking of you for those roles?

It's on hold only because after the two terrible experiences I had being dicked around by producers who should know better, I got annoyed and just haven't done anything with it.  I think 2008 will be a year in which I revisit it.

When I logged on this morning I got the too many connections thing, waited five minutes, still got it, and sent the host a note.  Shortly thereafter all was well.

I always send the host a note - it increases the odds of a repeat invitation.

What I meant was, for example:  When we did Last Starfighter at a presentation at the New Musicals Festival last summer in Seattle (technically, Issaquah), there was a fellow who'd received great acclaim in Seattle doing a show about the life of Robert Preston; and when it came time to cast locally for the musical for the "Robert Preston" part, we ended up using the very fellow who'd made a recent splash playing Robert Preston.  So I'm wondering if KayeKid has had similar side results from being identified with Danny Kaye.
