But despite our candid observations which may sting(TM), I don't think we've yet achieved the vitriol of DataLounge.   ;)

Today is our festive department holiday "event."  I shall not be participating in the White Elephant Exchange.

No, I won't.  Don't ask me.

And since my system is frozen, I'm free - at least for a short time - to post like a bird.

Who's sorry now?

You can never have too many White Elephants.

Isn't that the national slogan of the Republicans?

Lovely photos, DR RLP, and interesting stories.  I lost an child uncle to the influenza epidemic of 1918 as well.

And, I say go for the chair.  and if it says OBO....make an offer.  It might end up costing $250 including the shipping.

I was actually asking SY, but she's disappeared.  "Don't disappear"!  (An obscure reference that probably only JR will get).

If we start posting things about Mr. Sondheim, perhaps he will join HHW as a Dear Reader?

Good morning!

Cold and rainy when I got up this morning, but it's cleared away just fine now and is lovely outside. Should be a nice December day.

No further comment from me.

I have that dinner/gift exchange tonight, so the new episode of CSI: NY and the last episode (probably ever) of JOURNEYMAN that's on will have to be recorded.

I believe PROJECT RUNWAY is a rerun tonight.

This afternoon, I'll probably watch another HARRY POTTER; it will be THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS (since I've been watching them in reverse order).

If I have more time, I'll likely watch the cartoon version of THE GRINCH on DVD.

Looking at those cemetery photos reminds me of the cemetery where my parents are resting. Those old Southern cemeteries look very much alike.

Ask BK:  well, it's more like "make a suggestion for BK," but now that you're getting into some of my other favorite Brasilian artists, I'll post (re-post in some instances) some others for you to check out:

Dori Caymmi
Ivan Lins
Milton Nascimento
Elis Regina (if you think all Brasilian female vocalists are langorous like Astrud, prepare yourself for Elis)
Joyce

There's a lovely CD out that I had forgotten about but which I put on this morning--"A Brasilian Christmas," which has some lovely Bossa Nova reworkings of Christmas standards.

Good Morning!

I'm up, I'm up... And I'm currently washing my towels and bed sheets so that when I get back on January 1, 2008, I can come home to clean linens.  Or something like that?!?!?  -And why do I care?!?!  And why do you care?!?!?  Or do you?!?!  Or don't you?!?!?

I know this is a dumb question, but if a show is an acknowledged mess and still being worked on diligently.....why charge $50 a ticket and keep running?

Wouldn't it be more prudent to take the time to make it good...and THEN start selling tickets....and then MORE tickets because the show is GOOD?
