I need the 1st season of UGLY BETTY on dvd, but I'll have to wait for the price to come down.

Yes, many TV box sets, especially those for the current big hits, are ridiculously overpriced. All HBO series are overpriced for the number of episodes they contain. I ALWAYS wait for a sale to get those if I'm interested.

In the mail today I'm expecting a review copy of THE OMEGA MAN on Blu-ray. I never saw this Charlton Heston sci-fi movie from 1971, so this will be my first time with it. Won't get to it, however, until I finish with THE TUDORS.

I remember watching THE OMEGA MAN on tv.  It's a good story.

I just worry about the format of DVD's.  Remember when VHS tapes were the hot item.  Then things switched to DVD's.

I wonder if in say 5-10 years, something new will come out and all of the DVD's I own won't work unless I'm able to buy a used DVD player at the local Good Will.   :-\

Well, it's based on Richard Matheson's I AM LEGEND which has gotten yet another remake currently in movie theaters with Will Smith. I'm sure Warners put out THE OMEGA MAN to cash in on the same story in a different interpretation.

I own most of the old movies and tv shows that I love.  I want to be able to watch them or share them with someone who never saw them down the road.

Well, the industry does want to move to high def DVDs, but at least they're backward compatible with standard DVDs. And Microsoft is hoping that all media needs will eventually be satifsied by downloading so you don't have to buy the media in disc form. I think that is a long way off.

Those of us who were into laserdiscs faced just such a challenge. Try finding a laserdisc player now that works.

I saw The Omega Man when I was a kid at a little theater on a military base in Heilbronn, Germany where my sister managed the Service Club (make of that what you will, TCB).

Too late now - but for future reference:

Always always always use Delivery Confirmation with the USPS.....my sister Molly's Christmas Box of Prezzies NEVER EVER made it to Seattle.  Mailed via Parcel Post on December

Included in the box was a necklace, bracelet, earrings to match the dress she wore to the wedding; a book for my brother in law and a set of Dean Martin DVD movies (w/o Jerry Lewis), a box of matched stationery, and three James Dean DVD's + DREAMGIRLS on DVD.

I hope whoever stole it or found it has a Merry Christmas.

Don't give up hope, JR--parcel post can take up to 6-8 weeks, believe it or don't.  My sister in NC and I found that out a few holidays ago, which is why we now spring for priority (with delivery confirmation).

Well, I guess I'll head down and try to figure out what I'm going to fix for lunch. It will be less food than usual since I will be eating a variety of cheese dishes tonight as I sip wine.

Whew!  45 minutes ago I finished a second batch of shortbread cut-outs (first batch was made Wednesday) and a batch of Pecan Snowballs.  Soon we will clear the kitchen table and ice and decorate the cut-outs.

Our movie plans have been postponed, because we realized that the University of Cincinnati's bowl game kicks off at 1pm.  We have 2 Bearcats in the house who want to watch the game (and I do, too!).  Go 'Cats!

DR singingnymphy, go to Amazon.com and see if they're selling any "new and used" copies at lower prices.  I buy a lot of things on the Amazaon market as opposed to the store.

It seems strange posting Spoilers about a show that would seem common knowledge to anyone on this site!

I forgot to mention in reference to DR cillaliz' comment about the audience she was with laughing during bleeding in SWEENEY that no one laughed at any of those moments in the audience that Charlotte and I were in.  In fact, I believe the three bloodiest moments are Pirelli's, since it's the shocking first death, the Judge's since he'sthe focus of Sweeney's vengeance, and Sweeney's.  Everything in between is relatively goreless, since he couldn't be messing up his shop, could he?, in case another customer showed up.

Now the calendar's just one page
And, of course, I am excited
Tonight's the night, but I've set my mind
Not to do too much about it.

That would be fine with me. It's up to my DH to address that, though, as it is his mother.

Good Morning!  Good Afternoon!

I'm up, I'm up... And I'm feeling kind of achy. ???  I actually think the culprit is the very(!) firm(!!!) mattress in my parents' guest room.  :-\

As for the Topic of the Day... Hmm... That's going to take quite a bit of thought.  Especially since a bunch of the new releases I bought this past year are still "waiting" to be played. ;)

And on a related note, since I did do quite a bit of CD shopping this past year, I had no need to head to Border's this morning for the $9.99 CD sale.  *Although, if I was staying up in Arlington right now, I might have gone to the Border's at Bailey's Crossroads.  The buyer there always stocks some rarities among the Cast Recordings and Soundtracks.  -While the CD selection at the Border's in the Time-Warner Center is quite "predictable".

I know some people who, when lit, seem even more festive.  Especially at the office party this year.

And will they be wearing a lamp shade on their head when they're all lit up?

DR Ron Pulliam, as the Fall Guy, does it fall to you to re-stock said freezer?

I was about to ask the same question, but after reading DR Ron Pulliam's subsequent answer/explanation, there is now no need to ask such a question.
