I ended my afternoon with AS THE WORLD TURNS. Yes, as DR Elmore intimated, the gay characters were on and stepping forward ever-so-slowly with their involvement.

They are college freshmen. Funny, but I had my first boy friend when I was a freshman in college, and believe me, we did NOT take it slowly (and this was the 1960s). So all this pussy-footing around with them is strictly a writers' construction to drag things out (or delay the inevitable; I'm guessing there will be temptations thrown in their paths that will even prevent them from getting together).

I tell ya, that psycho dad's gonna return!

I enjoyed the stage production of GWTW (way back in 1973). At least it was shorter than the film!

GWTW opens at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in April this year. (not the Rome version).  It was the same theatre as the first effort.

Former DR Robert A was in the production staged in Chicago (I think)  in the 1970's.

I doubt anyone was really that concerned about the "Lyrics" in 1973.

I've always likes the song and philosophy that "A Southern Lady Does Not Go In to Trade".
Make of that what you will.

DR JMK - I saw GWTW the same year as Mr Newley's very entertaining "Good old Bad Old Days".
It was the year of the first professional production of "Joseph"- back when Jospeh was copuled with Jacob's Journey and the show had not been corrupted to being the vehicle it has now become.  The Pharaoh at that time was Gordon Waller (Peter & Gordon).

The most interesting thing about this album is that it has an EMI and a Columbia label on it.  I thought EMI and Capitol were licensing partners--isn't that what the Beatles were out on in the UK and US?

Columbia UK is an EMI label; they did the London cast album of WHERE'S CHARLEY?

EMI/Columbia was the label in OZ too Jeff.
Columbia was the label in the UK for Cliff Richard.
Parlophone was the UK EMI label for the Beatles.

Columbia had naught to do with "Columbia" USA as far as I know.
Columbia USA recordings (Percy Faith, Andy Williams etc) were issued here on Coronet/CBS label. Same was true of the UK.

That probably does not help at all does it?

Interesting!  I just always associated EMI with Capitol, obviously incorrectly, LOL.

Fiddle-dee-dee!

Fiddle-dee-dee was just a major part of the lyric of the song that just passed (kind of like a kidney stone).

But it's going to remind me of the Godmother in Cinderella for the rest of my life.  ;)

I appreciate the lessons in Pop Culture 101. Maybe TD or another DR could fill the rest of us in from time to time, just so we don't feel like such ignoramuses (ignorami?).

You're not an ignoramus, nor should you feel like one.
Some of us have very trivial minds which soak up things like a sponge; sometimes those useless bits of trivia can come in handy.

Co-workers at Borders and I are still attempting to find the charm of Miley/Hannah - her calender had to be the largest selling one in our store!

As for Shia - well, I saw TRANSFORMERS, and I really enjoyed watching him.

I must admit some of the choral arranging is quite nice.

The Burning of Atlanta was very effective on stage.

There was also a Horse and Cart used - it is a huge stage!
