I notice DR Ben studiously avoided out to lunch.   :)

I've been OUT to lunch for so long that lunch doesn't even notice anymore :D

Ah, that's right, she goes to CU.  Hmm...  There's a new location of "Community Food & Juice" that opened right on the CU strip.  A good place for a good meal.  Great brunches, and some pretty good baked goods - since the place is run by the same folks who operate The Clinton St. Baking Company.

*And there's that great little Hungarian Strudel/Pasty shop by the Cathedral.
Thanks.  The juice place sounds like something Bryan will like.  He does like pastries but will likely pass on those-always watching his figure & eating healthy.  Plus, if he gains weight his one & only suit for interviews won't fit. ;D

And to do my part to bring a little "more" culture to these here parts, I highly recommend THIS RECORDING as something I find extraordinarily satisfying and beautiful!

That's one of my earliest CD purchases and still one of my most-prized ones.

Oliveira's recording of the Barber Violin Concerto has been repackaged a few times with other Barber orchestral works, but I don't think that Slatkin's recording of the Hanson is available in any other coupling right now.

I also like Gil Shaham's recording of the Barber on DG which is coupled with Korngold's own Violin Concerto and "Much Ado About Nothing" suite.

JMK, it is nice of your sister to shop for you.

The contact solution came in a nice small travel size.  Unfortunately it was discontinued.  The solution I use now only has the small bottles in their sample size, & those are hard to come by.

DR JEANNE,

Thanks for your suggestion re: the homeopathic meds for my back pain.

I was not able to go out, since i was in pain. :(

My back is feeling better (it's been one week) in some ways. But anytime i try to lift anything (even something small like a full glass of water) it hurts.

And being in a car can still be quite bad.

So i called the health food store nearest to me and gave them the name of the meds you suggested. They said they had them and that they thought it would help.

However, when the person picking up the meds got to the store there was a different homeopath on duty.  And he said that while what you suggested would be good. He had something that he thought would be better: Rhus Toxicodendron .

I told him exactly how my injury occured. ANd he explained how much he loved Arnica (what you had suggested). but he just thought that the rhus toxicodendron would be better in my case. So that is what i got.

HE gave specific instructions about dissolving them under my tongue (3 at a time). And he said to do it once (with a neutral mouth)(no food remnants and washed out).

Then he said to do that again in 4 hours.

HE also said that i could only take it for 2 days.

But that it was feeling at all better the 2nd day then not to take it that day. But if it was just a touch better than to do it.

I figure i will wait to see how it is tomorrow. And then maybe i will call and ask if i should take it again.

He also mentioned that it can be quite harmful to take it for more than 2 days. Which sort of freaked me out, since i thought the whole point of these things was that they were all natural and less toxic.

I was just wondering what you thought. and thanks.

I know that you who fly more than I do (which is all of you, LOL) are probably used to this, but how stupid is it that you can't bring a regular tube of toothpaste on a flight?  Are they afraid of a Parent Trap (Hayley Mills version) attack?

Not stupid at all - ever heard of binary explosives?

In other words, TATP is dangerous stuff. But the airline bombers weren't planning to take TATP aboard their flights. They were planning to take its liquid precursors on board and then mix them together while the plane was in the air. That's why we're not allowed to pack gels or liquids in our carry-on bags anymore.

Jose, I want to ask Bryan to make a stop at Bruno's bakery, if he is in the area.  brunobakery.com doesn't link to the bakery anymore.  My google search showed more than one location-?.

Any help here will be appreciated.

You expect me to find references suggesting that our bureaucrats never make absurd policy?

der Brucer

And I expect there are better examples of explosive binary compounds not necessarily easily available on the internet. Truth be told, clever terrorists should not waste their time on a simple blown-up plane (an event of non-monumental significance unless you or a loved-on are on board).

The electricity has stayed on, the phones are working again, the rain has stopped and THE SUN IS SHINNING!

I think it is time to go for a hike.  I'm not going on our road, I hear the cougar killed a coyote, and the coyote have been getting the sheep.

Bruno is down to one location right now.  They closed their Bleecker Street (Pastiscceria Bruno) location last year.  However, their location on La Guardia Place on the eastern end of the West Village is still open.

Their new website is: http://www.pasticceriabruno.com/
