Used to be a fairly common practice for one network to take on a cancelled show after another network let it go. Certainly the show I'm watching right now on DVD - JAG lasted three lackluster seasons on NBC before CBS took it over and made a smash hit out of it.

I'm not much of a film guy, so all the movie discussions are pretty much out of my league. The only "all star cast" movie that I can recall seeing was "Last of Sheila," which was, of course, all kinds of fun.

Sorry to hear about your back, bk... back pain is the pits, and about as curable as the cold. With the contradictory advice that I've gotten for my own ("Try heat." "Try cold." "Try resting it." "Try working it out."), it's no wonder people go nuts at the medical profession.

Quiz for today.

Here is a photo from an article in the same June, 1959, TV GUIDE, about a young television actor from New York.

He and his ex-wife make about $10,000 a month making hats he designs.

Can you identify him from the photo?

Hedda Hopper?

William Hopper?

We should do a TOD of shows that changed networks.

OK, that's my list.

Alan Sues.

If Alan Sues had a "wife" (as in female), I'll eat my hat (or his hat, as the case may be).   ;D

And, of course, Disney moved his SUnday show from ABC to NBC in the early 1960s and renamed it. Later, when DIsney and ABC fell under the same umbrella of ownership, Disney's show moved back to ABC.

Well, you just never know about that. Oscar Wilde had a wife and a couple of children.

If JRand knows of a way to talk to ghosts, several of you could have some interesting conversations with my uncle and get lots of G2 (intelligence) on Ms Storm.

I shall work on that....but maybe I don't want to know.  ;D

I picked up the complete I Love Lucy with my Border's coupon a couple of days ago.  Neat packaging.  Only dipped into the Bonus Disc as Betsy and I are still wending our way through Heroes.  Glad we decided not to let the kids watch after the first episode or so as it is certainly dark at times.

I also got Take Flight and 2 of the Sondheim Sings CDs (are there only two) with the 40% off CDs coupon, so that was nice.  Plus I can write off the expense on my taxes (can't I, FJL?).  ;)

DR MATTH is correct it is Mr Alan Sues.  His ex-wife Phyllis Sues was one of the models in the pool with him, and they were still a musical duo in revues around town including "Fun and Games of 1959" that they were currently rehearsing.

"Before returning to the West Coast (he was born in San Francisco), Sues spent seven years in New York, two of them in 'Tea and Sympathy'.  'I played the bully,' Sues said. 'Some cats swing that way'"

The new Sergio Mendes CD is almost here and I must say the samples I've heard are superb.  It's a return to form for us B66 lovers, and features much less rap than Timeless.  The guest stars (including Mr. and Mrs. Alpert) are all great, too.

TOD:  A couple of pretty good all-star casts can be found in the 1956 "Around the World in 80 Days" and the 1962 "The Longest Day."

I wonder if DR sprungcraw is anesthetized at this moment.

If he posts WHILE anesthetized, I wonder if we might confuse him with someone else.

I think we should all expect to see a photo of you eating your hat.

He was married to a woman named Phyllis.

Sues will be 81 on March 7, 2008.

I hate it that NBC is wasting two new episodes of "Chuck" on a Thursday night when I was used to seeing it on Mondays.

I'm sick of network airdate-hopping I am.
