What did I miss relative to JRand?   I know about the neighbor, but....

Yeah, JRand's neighbor was in a bad accident. Ron, I sent sympathy to Jack as well because when these things happen so close to home it can be unnerving. If Jack didn't feel at least a little bit shaken up I don't think he would have posted anything about it. That's all.

I should probably mention that today is my (deceased) father's birthday and, well, it always gets me down a bit. If my posts today seem a bit "colored" that's all it is and it'll pass.

 ;D

But IIRC it did pass through briefly. You see, I put it on my list of films to watch, but I cannot remember where I heard of it. It was probably here, but it could have been a Netflix recommendation.

Oh, Cool!  Well, it looks like I may have to go to South Africa to claim my winnings too!  Maybe we could split the cost of the hotel!  ;)

Sure why not--- I'm sure they'll reimburse us as part of the winnings!

My neighbors across the street are big Democratic fundraisers. They are supporting Obama. Lots of activity as Obama supporters come by to pick up bumper stickers and placards.

Since Saturday/Sunday one of the screws in my ankle has been quite sore.  I have attributed it to the weather we've had.  I've been walking around like a 90 year year old saying, "Oy" about every 10 seconds.  The problem is now that I have been over- compensating  since then while laying  and sitting down and have a muscle cramp on the other side.  The muscle spasms are going away, but I sure hope I don't have to be re-screwed.... in the ankle.  (Jose, Singdaw, TCB:  no comments are necessary)   ;)

Additionallly, since I don't have a lot of a hair to work with I gave myself a haircut.  And guess what?!!  It looks like I gave myself a haircut.  Not to mention  that I forgot to put the guard on the shaver, so it's a really short home haircut!    Luckily no one really looks at me anyway (luckily in this particularr instance at least).  The haircut is as successful and fashionable as a Toni Home Permanent my mother gave my sister when she was little.   :P

LOL.
Methinks DR KERRY is having a bad day.

I do hope Kerry's ankle improves soon.

Thank you, Jose, for your tips last night about making tortillas. Lard, eh? Ugh.

Well, the thing to remember about lard is that is a truly natural product, and minimally processed - and some much "better" for than the "fake lard", Crisco.  So... You don't need to knead much of it into the dough, so...

*I made biscuits once with lard and White Lily flour - truly some of the best biscuits I've made and tasted.

The official toxicology results have been issued and Heath Ledger's death has been ruled "accidental".  He was talking a hell of a lot of drugs, all of which were in his system, but none -- officially -- at an "abusive" dosage.  It was the combination that killed him.

For a really good article on Ledger and what drove him to need prescription drugs, I offer THIS London Times feature story.

Perhaps I need to rethink lard. I certainly agree about the Crisco--big difference between healthy fats and fake fats.

And none were contemplated.  ::)  But I'm sure I don't know what I did to deserve such a reputation.   ;)
