Chocolate for everyone!

But not for me (a Gershwin reference).

My favorite Valentine's Day story involved meningitis.

Anyone out there want to hear a story about meningitis?

And the happiesst of birthdays to my Dearest nephew Wilson (who is a smart and wonderful human being).  DR Music Guy (Wilson's other uncle) helped raise him  and treated him like a smaller adult  while my sister was attending school-- probably the most fulfilling period in my life.

He is 14 (so they say), but I could have sworn he was born just a few years ago.  Although he proved it the last time he visited me that he was at the special age by being entranced by the photos of wonderful starlets from the 50's and 60's.  So, I KNOW he's 14!  And a sweet kid!

Der Brucer and I don't really bother with Valentines Day.

Joe, in the meat department, and his husbear Bill don't really bother with Valentines Day, either.

Larry, who is two days older than I, is still aching over his David passing away last August.

Ed (customer service) can't be bothered.  Neither can Jeff (deli).

So that's five out of five at the store who don't celebrate Valentine's Day.  Or seven out of seven, depending on how you count.

On the other hand, it snowed last night, and the ground is whitened and pretty.  But it won't last.

I don't think that folks are nearly as interested in celebrating Valentine's Day as the merchants are.

Happy 14th birthday to Wilson, dear nephew of DR Kerry.

Today is also the birthdate of

Nancy Harkness Love

Local author Sarah Byrn Rickman has written the first biography of this renowned aviator and this afternoon a co-worker and I are going to a book event at the Engineers Club.

Dayton's a big aviation history town, you know.

Good morning!

The rain of the past two days is gone, and it's a bright, clear, and cold morning, warming to the upper 40s-low 50s. Beautiful day, and as I'll be going out to lunch later, I'll be enjoying the fresh air some.

I've been in two long-term relationships in my life, and though we did do things for each other on Valentine's Day, I can't remember anything especially memorable.

I do remember the last Valentine's Day that Frank and I celebrated, we had reservations at one of the swankiest restaurants in the city, and as we were getting dressed, we talked about trying to enjoy food in fancy clothes and decided then and there to cancel the reservation, call for take-out, and enjoy the dinner comfortably and where we could be intimate without disapproving eyes of onlookers around us.

Once again (second time in three weeks), I'll get to see SMALLVILLE in HD, but then SUPERNATURAL is preempted by a basketball game and delayed until early in the morning hours (where the broadcast is SD rather than HD). BOO!

Today I'll be watching the controversial 1985 film WALKER with Ed Harris. This is one of those films that critics either love or despise. Maltin loathes it, but other critics have voiced great support for its outlandish motifs. I've never seen it, so I go in not knowing what to expect and ready for anything.

It's by the director of SID AND NANCY, so I know it won't be easy going.

And he can ask Mr BIG why he never cast Miss Allison Hayes in any of his movies.  8)

Possibly because she was egregiously untalented as an actress?

Last night's "Project Runway":

S P O I L E R

I agree with Larry about Rami Kashou.  He has consistently shown us the same thing over and over.  Very much in the vein of last season's "Ule" and her tie-dyed flowing garments.

I agreed with Christian's comment to the camera about Chris doing that collar...AGAIN.  He could have had a large collar without doing the left-shouldered exaggeration.  That said, I think Roberto Cavalli's comments assured Chris of an opportunity to do a collection.

May the best man win out when they do the three-strongest-looks walk-off before fashion week.

I think Christian pretty much has this competition sewn up.  Jillian is a close 2nd....she has exquisite taste and workmanship.  Christian has creative imagination, flair and fabulousness.  Hmmmm....which WILL the judges pick?
