FLOYD'S BARBERSHOP

Well, you've read the notes, the notes were Floyd-like, trim and neat, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently at Floyd's Barbershop getting the once-over.

Re: the resurgence of barbershops...

I'm not certain, but I'm pretty sure that the composer Samuel Barber was behind it all, somehow...

There have been a couple of movies about Barber Shops in the past few years.....but not needing one myself, I haven't been to one in decades.

I believe FLOYD'S BARBERSHOP is a reference to the one on the Andy Griffith Show. That's what I thought of right away

Have we already done "Don't dawdle, Amanuensis."

Or:  If you're going to live from hand to mouth, you'd better be amanuensis (almost a Dolly reference)

Post #10500 - is that a milestone of sorts, or do we stop counting the 500's at this point?  :)

Congrats to DR FJL on 10500 posts!

Yikes...DRMICHAEL S reminded me of:

and
THE RAINMAKER - "Give me my hundred dollars!"

Good morning, all!  I've got a couple of hours with Toyland and environs, then lots of Patrick Cassidy work.

I'm very fond of the word of the day: I use it regulary in referring to Harold Sanford and Otto Langey, who were Victor Herbert's amanuenses for LADY OF THE SLIPPER and BABES IN TOYLAND. Mr Sanford took over the position when Mr Langey went to work for another music publisher.  Both gentlemen were excellent orchestrators and arrangers and for years their work has been credited to Herbert alone.

TOD:
  THE DEVIL'S DISCIPLE
  SWEET SMELL OF SUCCESS
THE RAINMAKER (I wish I liked both Lancaster and Hepburn better in this; it's the rest of the cast that outshines them)

Good morning!

Another gorgeous day out. I thought it might be overcast today, but all that has cleared up and we're left with a cloudless blue sky and temps supposedly getting to the 60s.

Since the three Criterion discs up next for review won't be mailed to me until today, I have a backlog of discs I inherited from my Paramount predecessor, and tonight I'll start with one I've never seen all the way through: JONATHAN LIVINGSTON SEAGULL.
