So you caught my jawdropping turn as Lucy in Charlie Brown at Camp Loyaltown, then?

I believe that the Artistic Director of Capital Playhouse would feel like a failure if he couldn't sneak at least one drag queen into every show.

Actually, that is really an unfair (and rather snarky) comment.  Capital Playhouse is actually one of the most successful theaters in the Northwest, due in large part to their Artistic Director.  The proof of that can be found in shows such as their recent SWEENEY TODD starring Jarrod Emick.

Not live, but I've seen the bootleg.  And it's fabulous!

Where's the sport in that?  I'm such a broad target!   ;)

I didn't know that Jarrod was a drag queen!   ;)

singdaw - Actually, Spitzer was born in June 1959, and I was born in May 1960.

It must have been the influence of the 1950's that made the difference.

Yes, that must be it after all.  I'll bet he had crewcuts and used butch wax as a kid.

I know, and it's really pissing me off!  Of course, other DRs might find it a relaxing respite.

I used to think that the large assortment of people who had never seen a "live" play or musical was purely a West Coast thing.  Then I moved to Lodi, New Jersey, which is less than twenty miles from mid-town Manhattan; and I found that almost the same percentage of people living there, had never seen a live theater production, either.

Good Evening!

Well, my friend and fellow foodie, Michael, called me up a few hours ago asking, "So, where are we going for dinner?"  So, I met him down at 125th & Broadway, and we walked east along 125th until we got to Manna's Soul Food Buffet.  YUM!  There are three locations of Manna's in Harlem - all along 125th - and each one is set up a little differently, however, they all feature the same delicious food.  I stuck to my usual selections: stewed okra & tomatoes, mac'n'cheese, collard greens, meatloaf, etc.  And since St. Patrick's Day is around the corner, they also had corned beef and cabbage on the steam table - Pretty Yum!

And to round our meal, we walked down to Make My Cake for dessert.  Michael selected a vanilla cupcake with strawberry frosting, and I had a slice of their coconut cake - which happened to have a layer of pineapple filling between the cake layers.  Again... YUM!

When I was in college, our madrigal group would sing concerts at some of the high schools in the area.  I still remember meeting high school kids in Chester, VA who had never been into the city of Richmond - which was only 10 miles away!

I probably would never get beyond the meatloaf and the mac'n'cheese.

I love stewed toamtoes, but I am not fond of the flavor of okra by itself.

DR GINNY I loved the retirement options that DH RICHARD sent you.

You also know that you are DOING THEATRE in the Midwest when a cast member is late because he had to pull a calf.....and if you don't know what that involves, ask someone else.

Very distressing rehearsal developments, MR BK.  Sounds like everyone wants to be in the show, but no one wants to rehearse.

I like okra. I grow it sometimes. Maybe this year I'll plant some.

I LOVE okra.  My mom makes the world's best fried okra.  Mine is pretty good.
