DR elmore - Will you be down at Toyland today?  I'm just a block away.  Maybe we could meet for lunch?

DR Jose, no, alas, not today! 'm working at home and then I have a chest x-ray at 12:30.

Good morning, all!  I'm starting to feel that the battle with mites and bugs is over, I've got to be vigilant and regular in my attacks on them from now on, but  this is one of  the few bits of positive thoughts I've had in the past week, which has been needlessly fraught and tense.

My next apartment project is to buy a humidifier, which is recommended for keeping the mite population down.

DR tomovoz, I dearly love BREAKING AWAY, whose author, the late Steve Tesich, is the father of my goddaughter Charlotte's friend Amy. Since it was the first movie I saw in Manhattan after moving here in 1979, it will always be a 70s film to me.

Damn! My glasses just broke, and I'm now wearing the old pair from 2005.  This really pisses me off because I don't know when today I can have them looked at or order a new set of frames.

To add insult to injury, with all my other debts this month, I don't know when I can afford to do this. I could use some vibes that the Patrick Cassidy check arrives ASAP!

The IT geniuses at work are trying to upgrade the spam filter on our email.  Apparently, they've disabled all filtering, because the sleazy email is overwhelming.  It's a good thing, over this past 3-day weekend, I've been able to delete on a regular basis or I'd have a mess when I get to work at noon today.  It's so bad, I'm even getting spam from myself  ::)

And by "music," you mean...   ???

And by "Opera" they mean: ???

LONG BEACH PRESS-TELEGRAM

Quote
A poetic triumph for York and L.B. Opera

"Enoch Arden," by Richard Strauss to a text by Alfred, Lord Tennyson, and "Frankenstein!!" by HK Gruber to a poem by Viennese poet H.C. Artmann, mark the second of four events in LBO's 2008 season and continue the company's tradition of presenting the new and unusual.

The two works, the first a melodrama, the second a "pandemonium," did have one more thing in common: Actor Michael York starred in both.

In "Enoch Arden," Tennyson's poem was recited and acted by York with Strauss' score played by pianist Lisa Sylvester. "Frankenstein!!" was more of an interactive romp, featuring York as both chansonnier and participant, the seven members of the Rogue Artists Ensemble, 11 musicians and Andreas Mitisek, LBO's artistic and general director, conducting.

Good morning!

It's a gray day here today in anticipation for the rain that is to greet us tonight and tomorrow. We're still running way behind our yearly average of needed rainfall, so any will be welcome.

Sorry about your glasses, DR Elmore. I've been meaning to schedule a long overdue trip to the optomitrist to have my eyes examined and get new contact and glasses porescriptions. I haven't been having headaches or anything like that, so I don't think my eyes have changed, but a check-up is still overdue.

Sad news that film director Anthony Minghella (The English Patient) died suddenly of a brain hemorrhage following a routine operation on his neck.

Why didn't somebody mention that the fabulous Dr. Drew Casper does the running commentary on the latest release of 12 ANGRY MEN? I was just reading the review of the new disc (finally anamorphic), and stumbled on that wonderful news!
