We could all drop by Playbill.com and send him birthday e-mails there!
In fact, I just did exactly that!

TOD: Last night I had spaghetti with parmesan cheese, then I went to a two-hour meeting. When I came home, I wasn't quite so cranky.

But then, the two-hour meeting was about the new minister, so maybe that helped.

TOD

In what must be a bit of reverse psychology, I find that listening to Samuel Barber's Adagio for Strings a few times will lift my mood.  But I only use it when I'm really in the dumps.

Gawd, that's a downer piece of music!  It's like flying, bird-like, over one of the bleakest, greyest landscapes imaginable on one of the bleakest, greyest, overcast days.  Gorgeous, of course, but not in an uplifting way.  Which is why it works.

Good morning, all! The Toyland work continues, and I have a few errands to run this morning.

I go through horrible depressions which send me to bed to sleep them off. They sometimes last for several days. I haven't had a grisly one since 2004, and that was when the misdiagnosed "boil" turned into something major, and I could not cope with my health, which included a period I was on crutches because of some leg problem and an eventual round - followed by another - of surgery.  Along with the health, there were the collapsed bookcases and the lack of work caused by my depression and my health.  It was an effort to do or to accomplish anything for several months, so very little wrks for me in getting me out of it.

Today, I have things to accomplish, so I have to get busy. Back laer.

Right now, the pick-me-up song that gets me every time is Donna Summer's recording of "This Time I Know It's For Real" - the excitement of the music gets to me if I'm ever feeling down

I'd assume the reason they could add as many extra tracks as they want to the soundtrack CD of the FIDDLER movie is that they're already recorded for the film, right?

Feel-good vibes to Larry!

DR FJL, thank you for the vibes! I actually feel quite good today: new frames for my glasses are ordered and paid for, I've got plenty of work, and all I need are a bunch of vibes that some payments arrive to cover my health insurance, IRS estimated taxes, the rent, and a bit of new furniture and a dehumidifier!

And now, off to the errands.

Just heard that Oscar, Emmy and Tony Awarding actor Paul Scofield has passed away at the age of 86 from Leukemia.

I saw this information this morning as well and was very sad to read it.

Good morning!

Beautiful day outside today. I'll be inside, however. I caught a very mild form of the flu that's been going around, so I'll be taking it easy today.

Even if I get review copies today, I'll have to take the day off from viewing/writing. Just don't quite feel up to the task of heavy concentration.

I should be able to watch some things for fun today that won't require much concentration. I'll record LOST tonight in case it gets too complicated for me to follow.

Quote
I've always thought with the right director and cast The Most Happy Fella would make a wonderful movie - for years I thought Coppola should direct it up in wine country.

I agree with BK's sentiments on this one!  I've felt that this would be a perfect marriage of material and director.
Also, I still think that Oliver Stone should direct ASSASSINS, either for cable or for the big screen.
