Yep.  Pachelbel's "canon" was legendary...

In fact, I think DR elmore3003 even has a VHS movie about it.

It's a shame that because of the increase commercial times which makes the running time shorter tv shows mostly fogo theme songs in favor of plot. I miss theme songs.

My TV Theme List: (In ABC Order)

The Addams Family
Alice (All its versions of There's A New Girl In Town)
All In the Family (Those Were the Days)
Angie (Different Worlds)
Baretta (Keep Your Eye On The Sparrow)
Bosom Buddies (My Life)
Cheers ("Where Everybody Knows Your Name")
Chico and the Man
Family Matters ("Days Go By")
Family Ties ("Without Us")
Friends ("I'll Be There For You")
The Golden Girls ("Thank You for Being a Friend")
Maude ("And Then There's Maude")
The Greatest American Hero ("Believe It Or Not")
Happy Days
The Jeffersons ("Movin' On Up")
Laverne & Shirley ("Making Our Dreams Come True")
The Love Boat
The Mary Tyler Moore Show ("Love is All Around")
The Nanny ("The Nanny Named Fran")
The Partridge Family ("C'mon, Get Happy")
Perfect Strangers
Three's Company
WKRP in Cincinnati

Did I miss any?

Two favorites where lyrics were written for but not used.
Bewitched
I Dream of Jeannie

Two Favorites Where lyrics were written afterwards
I Love Lucy (Sung only on one episode)
That Girl (Use for the final season)

Such lovely TOD choices....TV Theme songs were so much fun...and really took you right into the story getting you set for the episode.

Other faves were:

the title song from the short-lived "Makin' It" (which later became a hit single when it was included in a film)

"With A Little Love" from short-lived "Debbie Reynolds Show" (which became more hip :) when it was used by the Monty Python troupe as the theme song for "The Attila the Hun Show."

RE: bagging items at the grocery store.

HEre we have the self-check out cashes. We also have some grocery stores where you pack it yourself. And some where they do it for you.

I actually don't mind doing it myself. That way i can put the things i want together.

I'm not that fond of when they have little kids bagging for charities. They do not know what items to put together. I'd rather they just had a donation tray.

DR td, is THIS the missing verse you meant?

Oh baby, oh baby
Come give it to me now, baby
But keep it between us
You and me got a secret love, baby

Oh baby, oh baby
Come give it to me now, baby
But keep it on the hush
You're not mine, got a secret love, baby

Perhaps that's the wrong song, though.   :)

DR BrettySpaghetti, I took a gander at you list of favorite movies.

I'll keep my LAWRENCE OF ARABIA as a favorite film, if not my all-time favorite, for as long as you keep AMERICAN BEAUTY on your list, and we'll call it even.

Perhaps some other DRs can explain to me the appeal of AMERICAN BEAUTY, for as I've previously stated, I find it to be one of the more pretentious pieces of claptrap that I have ever seen.

As for LAWRENCE, not even the superbit dvd can replicate the sheer magnitude this film has on a super-sized theater screen, so it's a film I watch on rare, special occasions - e.g., it makes for great dvd viewing on a cold winter night.

Saturday morning greetings!  It's an information-waitressing day.

TOD - After I'd moved away from Michigan and missing it very much, I was driving up there to visit my parents.  Just as I passed the Ann Arbor exits, the song on the radio was all about welcome back, welcome back, welcome back.  I found out later it was the theme from Welcome Back, Kotter.  Even though I never watched the show, I always liked the theme song.

"Love is All Around," from The Mary Tyler Moore Show, has been in my head a lot as I prepare to fly to Minneapolis on Tuesday.

DearReaderLaura DR - DO NOT PICK UP YOUR PHONE TONIGHT.  In case any of the chaperones fail to show up for the "lock in."   :)

Thanks for the advice!

Good morning!

We're going to have the last of our warm days for awhile. After today, highs will be only in the 50s for the next three days, then a gradual warming trend. Typical early spring. Never can make up its mind to be warm or cool.

TOD:

Yes, I've always loved "Love Is All Around" from THE MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW. Unquestionably my favorite of all-time, show and theme song.

Today I'll probably spend review time with THE CHIPMUNK ADVENTURE to get it out of the way. Tomorrow I'll give the entire day over to the two-disc set of THERE WILL BE BLOOD.
