Today, I went to my parents' house and swapped out four, count 'em FOUR light fixtures.  The hardest part was the very first one I did.  It was an outside fixture and the screws to attach the light fixture to the brace that attaches to the light box in the wall were too long (what an unseemly sentence ;)).  Anyway, I went to Lowe's, which is only a couple of miles away and got some shorter screws.  Otherwise, everything was simple and went quickly.  My mom went to Costco and bought a couple of pizzas.  My mom likes the combo, but my dad and I prefer the pepperoni, which was very good.  I now have half a pepperoni pizza in my fridge. :D

I've never professed that my list is all-inclusive; we all have our favorites. I try to mention shows that get some discussion here by members, but I love it when others (like DR Jennifer) add their own favorites, particularly when I haven't included them.

I finished TWO WEEKS WITH LOVE. Phyllis Kirk's Valerie is SUCH a bitch in this movie. It just irritates me that poor little Jane Powell can't see what she's up to until so late in the movie.

Ricardo Montalban is still the same dream hunk in this movie that he's always been.

Next I watched THE ADVENTURES OF BARON MUNCHAUSEN on Blu-ray disc tonight. Unquestionably the best the movie has ever looked on home video, and I don't remember it looking this good in the theater where I saw it.

The film's always been a big mess, but there are enough entertaining passages and eccentric contrivances for me that it's always a fun ride.

I really should sit down and watch BRAZIL again. I haven't watched it in at least a decade.

On "Throwdown," I'm guessing that the person being challenged knows the plan all along and is just pretending to be surprised when the throwdown challenge happens.

Only, I don't watch "Top Chef."  I've seen a couple of episodes.  Just never got hooked.

Wait a sec, doing some cross-reffing...

Colicchio.  Before Craft, he was the chef at Gramercy Tavern.  Part of Danny Meyer's USHG - Union Square Hospitality Group.  As in Danny Meyer, as in Setting the Table, the book I've been reading.  Which means that Colicchio will be well-versed in Meyer's attitudes about hospitality.  Which are incredible.

And, Colicchio has also written a few cookbooks.  And, hey, Think Like a Chef is now in paper, on sale at Jessica's Biscuit for less than $15!

I don't know how prepped for the challenge on Throwdown the real chefs/cooks are.  I honestly believe that when the series started they hadn't known what was coming down.  

But, seriously, by this time, if FoodTV shows up at your doorstep saying they're doing a special or a new series and they want you to be the star, I'd start looking around for a redhead with his own camera crew.

At least Flay loses (and loses graciously) most of the time.

Lawry's and Crustacaen weren't on the list Jose posted, hence I did not mention them.  I like Lawry's and love Crustacaen, and one of our ensemble gals has just become a hostess there, so I'll never have a problem having to wait again.
