DR’s TCB & Arnold-Thank you for the happy Passover wishes.

While hiking Sherlock yesterday we saw a friend & caught up on his news.  He was headed home to dress for a costume Seder.  He was going as the frog plague. ;D

I never had WebTV, but I used it once in a hotel room, and I loathed it. The keyboard response seemed super slow and was irritating to use inevitably.

Sorry you haven't gotten to TORCHWOOD's second season yet, DR Jennifer, but let me just say that there are many, many emotional tear-inducing episodes that are part of season two.

DR Jennifer-Awhile back I noted on my calendar Moonlight would be a new episode, however, over a week ago my DVR was showing a re-run.  The why, I have no idea.

DR Jose, I had only made half a recipe to begin with.  I baked half of those, then couldn’t resist & made the rest.  Of course I should have baked any, considering they have flour in them. ;D

I will have to find someone to share these with, they are a bit sweet to eat more than a couple at a time.

Happy for your purchase, DR George. Want to hear all about it once you get up and running.

Remember that the set will need some calibration before it looks really good. Rarely do they come optimally tuned right from the store. Use the THX Optimizer  which can be found on many Pixar DVDs (like NEMO or THE INCREDIBLES) to help tune in your set quickly and easily.

Today I'll be continuing with the Indy Jones box set. I have three more documentaries tied in to the "movie" episode I watched last night. Then, I can go on to disc 3 and another "movie."

I'm not exactly sure what I'll be doing today.  I don't have any plans, so I guess I could stay in today and do some cleaning and organizing - which I should have done last week - but...  We'll see. ;)

DR MattH (and JMK) - Were those "documentaries" produced exclusively for the box set of Young Indy Adventures?  -I just don't ever recall any sort of documentaries being shown on TV when the show originally aired.

I forgot to mention last night that one of the documentaries in the first disc was of radio/TV/newsreel commentator Lowell Thomas. What an interesting life he had!

I think they were produced for the box sets.

And I had no idea, but these sets are EXPENSIVE! The one I'm reviewing lists for $130!

DR Jane - Yes, those cookies can get a bit sweet over time.  -Which actually makes it much easier to not over-indulge.  However, I have been meaning to try cutting back the amount of sugar in the recipe - probably start off with taking out 1/4-cup of each type of sugar - just to see if they come out the same way.

Hmm... Maybe I could do that today?  ;)

YIKES!  Are they possibly angling these toward school/educational use?  I just don't ever recall the series being that popular in the first place to warrant such extravagant extras.

I was thinking the same thing for next time as well as combining half brown with half white sugar.  You just said each type of sugar, my recipe says all brown sugar.  I will have to see if I missed something in your side notes.  Please let me know how it turns out.

I wouldn't be surprised. These documentary-laden sets are all George Lucas' idea from everything I've read.

No, the show was never a big hit. I think it only ran two seasons because Lucas and Spielberg insisted on a two year deal (as Spielberg got with AMAZING STORIES). No ignominious quick cancellation for them!

Guess I'll head down now to get laundry ready for today's usual washing and then I'll start thinking about what's for lunch.

I can't believe it is snowing again.  No matter how beautiful it looks outside, I really want the warm weather back.  At least the snow on the driveway didn't stick.

DR Jane - Oops - I was thinking about another cookie recipe. But, yes, I was going to try to cut back on the amount of brown sugar in the peanut-butter cookie recipe.

LOL Jose.  Have you thought about combining the two sugars?

Yes, but... In her introduction to the recipe, Pam Anderson goes through various trial and errors until she reaches the "perfect recipe".  She did try various ratios of white and brown sugar, but eventually settled on just using brown sugar in the recipe.  So... -Also, I suspect that adding some white sugar would end up crisping the cookies a bit - which, for some people may not be a bad thing.

I would like the crisp, Keith wouldn't.  I think the brown sugar gives it a nice rich flavor, just too sweet of one.  Let me know if you make it with less sugar & how it turns out.  Thanks again for the recipe.

Will do.  -I've also been wanting to try gilding the lily a little bit by adding some semi-sweet chocolate chips to the batter.  ;)

BK, one way or the other, you should follow DerB's advice and turn off your call waiting (I think it's *70, but someone here will know for sure) while you have your machine plugged in.

If you do that, leave a couple plain to compare the the reduced sugar flavor.  I have a Skippy recipe that says to place candy coated chocolate pieces on top of the cookies before baking.

I shall shortly be on my way to our first tech rehearsal.  What I think is good is that we have one of these every night this week, plus two on both Saturday and Sunday, although certain parts of our set won't be completed until mid-week, like the projections.

Here's the Playbill story on the Hartford MUSIC MAN, with complete casting as of a few weeks ago.

http://www.playbill.com/news/article/116278.html

Perhaps Mr. Doyle should direct MUSIC MAN, then he could have the cast playing instruments, when they aren't playing instruments!
