Well, you've read the notes, the notes were in both the fast and slow lanes, although they didn't know which, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're always in the slow lane, hence they're not being home in over six years.

Well, I need to get to sleep.  At work, I'm on a committee to come up with ideas to help celebrate Timberland Regional Library's 40th anniversary at the end of this year.  We have a meeting today at noon, so I'll need to bring something for lunch, since that's most people's lunch time and we were told that it's okay to bring lunch...so I will.  But I have to get it before I go to work, because I don't really have anything here that I could would want to bring.

So, good night Der Brucer and any guests. 8)

I shall now hit the road to dreamland and hope I can get my car in first thing in the morning.

BK's left slow left lane puzzle:

A. When the Eastbound Glendale Freeway (134) merges with the Foothill Freeway (210), which enters from the left, the 134 left hand labes back up.

B. When the Eastbound Riverside Freeway (91) meets the Orange Freeway (57), there is traffic existing right from the 91, which often speeds up those lanes, the the 91 left hand lanes must cope with the traffic entering from the 57 and the congestion just ahead when the 91 meets the 55.

C. When a freeway loses its Diamond lanes, the left lanes slow down to accommodate the resulting merge.

This is why savvy commuters use a helicopter!

U.N. Chief Warns World Must Urgently Increase Food Production

ACCRA, Ghana —  The U.N. chief warned Sunday that the world must urgently increase food production to ease skyrocketing prices and pledged to set up a task force on a crisis threatening to destabilize developing nations.

The cost of food has increased by around 40 percent since mid-2007 worldwide, and the strain has caused riots and protests in countries like Cameroon, Burkina Faso, Haiti and Egypt.

"We must make no mistake, the problem is big. If we offer the right aid, the solutions will come," U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said at the opening of a five-day U.N. conference on trade and development in Ghana's capital, Accra.

"One thing is certain, the world has consumed more than it has produced" over the last three years, he said.

The UN bureaucrats are missing the boat, as is often the case. The primary problem is one of distribution, not production. Hell, we're paying farmers NOT to grow crops! If somebody could afford to buy it and ship, we would grow it.

Good morning, all! the alarm went off at 5 am, but I hate this Ellington job so much I slept in until 6. I have a meeting with the conductor at 11, and I hope to finish at least one more before he arrives.

As I walk in the chilly morn' and SUSPIRE,
My breath RISES UP as a thin grey mist.

(Poetic, even if it doesn't rhyme.   ;D)

Monday morning greetings!  I had a nice sleep-in this morning and beginning to let the enormity sink in that my 2-year term as program VP for AAUW/Ohio is over.

Thank you for all the nice comments on my avatar.  It's cropped from a photo that was taken of our Friday endnote speaker and myself, right after she finished her speech.  I look 'way more relaxed than I deserved to, considering there was still a full day of conferencing ahead!

Charles Champlin, former film critic for the Los Angeles Times...

...who, I just found out, now lives with macular degeneration.  He's even written a book about it, titled My Friend, You Are Legally Blind: A Writer's Struggle with Macular Degeneration.  Apparently, he's taking the irony of his condition gracefully.

(My finding this out came from checking on the correct spelling of his name.  Interesting, the sidebars I find here on the Internet.)
