Our conductor was still sick this morning, so I had to "conduct" the Kenyan piece.  I put conduct in quotes because, although I was waving my arms, people were so worried about their words that they weren't looking at me much.  All in all, we were able to pick up the tempo and got a pretty decent performance.  Our Kenyan guests said that they could understand the words, although they may have just been trying to be polite.   :)

So...  Am I really playing The Brain this weekend?  Really?  Hmm...  Is there room for a second keyboard player up on that platform?  Is there an actual second keyboard that's already programmed?  Does the MD know that there there might be a second keyboard this weekend?  Hmm...

If you want to see  the part, DR Jose, call me.

Well, it may be a moot/mute point anyway, so...

However, if I can sightread for Richard Maltby, Jr., I can certainly sightread for Bruce Kimmel.  ;)

Jose can play if he likes.  He'll come see it Friday night, then if he feels like sitting in, he can, just for fun.  The keyboard will be programmed and ready, and the band is backstage so there's plenty of room. :)

He was meant to be overbearing, and was effective at it.

Sounds like a part right up my alley!

Great news on The Brain opening night.

Is tonight the 2 hour season finale of season one of DEXTER?

They aired part 1 here last night. I will watch it later.

I also have DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES and BROTHERS & SISTERS.

That is really upsetting about the Kentucky derby yesterday. I really wanted to watch. But wasn't feeling well and ending up forgetting about it.

I guess DR MattH's comments about DEXTER answer my question!

Now on to Season 2. It will be interesting to see if i see much difference in the unedited version. It took me a while to get used to the santitized version. so hopefully i won't have to cover my eyes too much!

We never got that rain yesterday that they predicted. I wonder if we'll get it today instead. It got very dark a little while ago. Hmmm...

I haven't watched any of the edited versions on CBS so I have no idea what has been edited, but I'm fairly squeamish about blood and violence, and I can say that it's the double-barreled intensity of Season 2 that had me squirming, not the violence.

I began my afternoon of viewing with another PSYCH episode. This was the one with the missing female tennis player. Wonderful episode that I did eventually remember the solution to but very, very late in the show.

Then I finished watching the last episodes of DRAWN TOGETHER. Not quite sure why it got canceled and other similar gross-out shows remain on the air. Not that it's great or anything, but I wonder what their minimum audience ratings have to be to keep a show running. The producer on one of the commentaries said the show drew a loyal audience of 1.3-1.7 million which is about average, I think, for cable audiences. I have no idea what something like SOUTH PARK or LIL' BUSH draws each week.

Other than the commentaries, the bonuses were minimal. There was a montage of promos for each of the three seasons of the show. And there were the same tired clips from SOUTH PARK and THE SARAH SILVERMAN SHOW that have turned up on lots of other Comedy Central DVDs I've watched in the last few months.

After I finished with DRAWN TOGETHER, I put in BROADWAY MELODY of 1936. I've never seen this all the way through, so I'm enjoying watching the dated plot points and great Brown-Freed numbers.

The transfer looks stunning. I believe Robert Harris said this was the only one of the black and white films in this third musical collection whose original camera negative is still in existence, and you can certainly tell they did a DVD master from a gorgeous original.

I only got about 82 minutes in, so I'll finish the remaining 20 minutes when I go back down.

The last time I stayed at the Edison, I was seeing Patti Lupone in EVITA and Sandy Duncan in PETER PAN. . . .

I assume seeing Oh, Calcutta! on the Edison stage doesn't count.

TCB and George - Did we clarify that we're scheduled for the 22nd, not the 16th?

Umm...it's not a problem, but I don't remember anyone mentioning the 22nd. :-\

FJL, I sent a note to George this morning.  I thought we had decided on the 16th, but I am pretty sure we can do whatever fits your schedule.

Yup...the 22nd is okay for me, if it's better for you. :)
