Back from doing a few errands and whatnot.  Shipped all packages including book orders.  Anyone who hasn't checked out the book list from yesterday, do so.  If there's interest, I have another batch I can post.

I don't know what's going on with Time Warner today, but things are really slow on this computer, and I've been bumped from the Internet because of glitches three times.  Very boring and they're about to get Ye Olde Telephonic Call.

I'm starting to be persuaded that DR MBarnum only likes movies that have bizarre blurbs on their posters.   ;)

There is a foodie rule that cheese and fish do not belong together.  The understanding is that fish is delicate, and cheese tends to be strong, overpowering the fish.  However, this also presumes that the fish (which is delicate) is also fresh - if it were not fresh, it would not be delicate, and therefore could stand up to the cheese.

All of this assumes that the Fillet-o-Fish Sandwich found at McDonald's actually contains real fish.  Or real cheese, for that matter.

McDonald's is evil.

Enough said.

Creamed onions, at a Christmas dinner at der Brucer's daughter's house.

It's never a good idea to make this dish using pickled cocktail onions.

Yes. I just wish Randy and Jo didn't live 80 feet from the Macbeths.

I didn't realize they live so close to each other :o :(

Best of luck and vibes!!!

Do we presume that, in the absence of an enexpected train wreck, the girl goes.

der Brucer

I would assume that, but I take nothing for granted. Either way, I have no rooting interest in any of these three this year.

I began my afternoon of viewing with last night's CSI: MIAMI. Tom Sizemore was a superb villain, a PI who had gathered damning evidence against all of the folks in the lab and used it to blackmail them into giving up a case. Backfired, of course, but it was a good ploy for awhile.

For the rest of the afternoon, I've watched JAG - four episodes total (I have two more to do on disc 5 which I should have no problem finishing tonight before NCIS).

One of the episodes had nothing to do with trials at all and instead took place completely on submarines (one Russian; one American) with a plot borrowed from somewhat from CRIMSON TIDE and U-571.

In another, the team was defending Bud's brother from a manslaughter charge when a Mexican he got into a barroom fight with was later found dead.

Of course, there are also the comic sequences such as when the colonel defends the Marine bulldog mascot for impregnating a man's prized showdog without the consent of her master.

And there was a tense episode when Gunny goes to New Mexico to pick up an elderly ex-Marine (who had gone AWOL from the Marines during the Korean War) for court martial and finds himself in an ambush with some locals who want the Marine dead.

I would have tried to DVR Chelsea, if DR JoseSPiano had posted the notice before I went to bed!  :)

If I read the TV schedule correctly, it was rebroadcast at 2:30 am this morning and the same episode should be rebroadcast again this evening at 6:30 pm, which is when I set my DVR to record (I was dubbing something overnight and couldn't set my DVR to record the 2:30 am broadcast).  I'm assuming that these are all the same episode.

I just read in VARIETY that CBS has passed on another season of MOONLIGHT.

CBS has renewed HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, OLD CHRISTINE, THE UNIT, and RULES OF ENGAGEMENT, its other four bubble shows.

SHARK has not been officially canceled yet, but not being a part of the announcement makes me think when CBS announces its schedule tomorrow, SHARK won't be there.

OH!  And there's still a chance that I will be attending the taping of tonight's "American Idol".  Apparently, there will be lots of VIP's in tonight's audience, so they're checking to see just how many possible empty seats they'll have for everyone else.  If I go, cool. If not, that's cool too since it wasn't originally part of my plans.
If American Idol had any real class, they'd have you sitting in with the band.

And McDonald's is not a good subsititute.  McDonald's is evil.

As for the Tony Nominations...

Oh... And I would have thought that either Little Mermaid or Young Frankenstein would have garnered that fourth slot in the Best New Musical category instead of Cry Baby....

The Playbill article announcing the nominations mentioned the lack of Best Musical, Score or Book nominations for A Catered Affair.  Has anyone seen this?  Is it really unworthy of nominations? :-\ I love John Bucchino's music...although I haven't heard anything from this.  Here's the whole paragraph:

Notable omissions include Tony Award winner Kevin Kline, who did not receive a Best Actor in a Play nomination for his acclaimed performance in the revival of Cyrano de Bergerac; Cheyenne Jackson, who failed to receive a Best Actor in a Musical nomination for his work in Xanadu; Elizabeth Marvel, who was overlooked for her powerful performance in Top Girls; the exclusion of A Catered Affair from the Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical and Best Original Score of a Musical categories; and the lack of a single nomination for the Debbie Allen-directed revival of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, which features such Broadway favorites as Phylicia Rashad, James Earl Jones and Anika Noni Rose.
