IDOL:

David Archuleta was the most consistent over the course of three songs. Never sensational (though I did love his first song a lot), but solid on all three.

David Cook's first song was fantastic. It really built well and ended with a very effective climactic series of high notes which he placed perfectly. I thought he had blown his voice out, however, as he seemed a little raspy and tired on the second song, not quite reaching the high notes near the end. The third song was a bit rough but also ended effectively and with it being a more dramatic song than David Archuleta, I could see why Simon award him the best of the night.

Syesha had some flash to her act, but her old nemesis - pitch - dogged her all night, particularly on the first song.

If there is any justice, it will be the two Davids in the finals though I think the champion was unofficially crowned tonight. David Cook is just a much more effective stage performer.

After watching tonight's IDOL in about 32 minutes, I spent the remainder of the 9 p.m. hour watching THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA on one of the HBO channels. Since an entertaining movie. I must watch it on Blu-ray soon.

WOMEN'S MURDER CLUB said goodbye in a tense final hour (though there wasn't much mystery to it since the killer confessed via phone.)

Maybe Angie Harmon's next TV series will work out better for her. I really enjoy watching her perform.

Oh, I did flip over to see who went home on DANCING WITH THE STARS. I didn't see any of the four couples dance, so only going by comments I've read on the net, I have to say I wasn't surprised by the selection.

Doris:  The agency that gets this account is the one that shows the client the most attractive can.

One of the funniest edits EVER in cinema!  :o

AND Ann B. Davis and Edie Adams....Doris Day's reaction when Adams tries to show her the medal is also priceless.

And of course, when Rock is shopping for a suit to wear as the scientist asks for a suit that was popular a few years ago, and the old Jewish tailor says: "Blanche, bring out the suit we made for Ranier for the wedding.....prince or no prince, he doesn't pick it up, he loses the suit!"   ;D

With that Uranus talk, talk, talk
My planet and I both agree
Must be a planet
Must be Uranus
Must be a planet talkin' boy for me

How long will you be in Memphis?

Four days. I am attending the Memphis Film Festival and will be surrounded by western type actors.

DR MBARNUM - I give up, what two stars of ROBOT MONSTER will be in Memphis?  The two kids?  I thought everyone else had kicked the bucket or slunk away in embarrassment.

Gregory Moffett, one of the kids, and leading lady (George Nader's love interest) Claudia Barrett are two of the guests. I got Gregory Moffett invited as he was one of my interviewees, and Claudia was just added as a replacement for Lisa (World Without End) Montell who had a scheduling conflict.

But in the meantime...

It's Impossible

AND Jose-

Quick -who composed the song "It's Impossible'?

Why-------Andre Previn.. that's who .

And his wife at the time-Dore Previn wrote the Lyrics.

That's not impossible because it is Possible and True

It's Impossible, at least the hit song, was written by Sid Wayne and Armando Manzanero.

The VOTD song was, as noted, written by Previn and Previn.  I know which one I listen to.

I'm listening to a Peggy Lee two-fer, two of her early 70s albums - fun.

Good Evening!

I'm back from a wonderful dinner with some wonderful friends.  Our hostess, Lynn, provided the dinner: salad and pasta. My friend, Trevor, provided the wine: a very easy-drinking Pinot Noir, and a very "leggy" Cab-Sav.  Since dessert was left up to me, I went ahead and stopped at the House of Pies and picked up a Coconut Cream Pie.  YUM!  *We had all met doing a production of The Human Comedy, and since there was a whole song devoted to Coconut Cream Pie, well... :)

Listening to Where Did They Go, which is very much in the vein of Is That All There Is.  I really like it and its gorgeous Don Sebeskey orchestration.
