So you did or  didn't already buy the memberships?  I'm sooooooo confused.

If you haven't already...see my updated post #167 above. :)

It might...

But then, some of us can be OBSTINATE all on our own, without any prompting whatsoever!   ;)

And that might be it for a long while.

Fortunately, they're minor appointments.

DR td - So... I guess you'll be setting up regular six-month tunings and regulations from now on? ;)

*Some tuners will give you a package deal if you set up a schedule with them.

My parents originally bought my piano for my sister when we lived in Colorado in the early 1970s.  We moved here in 1976 and I traded my sister "her" piano for an alarm clock radio and a pair of binoculars, neither of which she still has.  I still have the piano, but it's not been tuned since we lived in Colorado! :o

My economic stimulus package will not be used for tuning my piano. ;)

Today is hot and stifling.  It's been cloudy most of the day, but that only seems to be sucking oxygen out of the air down here at ground level.

Ooof.    Thank goodness for A/C, although we're being URGED to use electricity very sparingly.

And....today is the first day of MANDATORY WATER RATIONING in my county.

Ooof.

I like most scary movies - those that involve situations I feel far removed from my own life.

The Birds, on the other hand.....

I still find myself uneasy under the glare of a sea gull on a phone wire!

der Brucer

CRUISING, however, did terrify me when I realized how many of those situations I had indeed placed myself

You ain't the only one feeling that way about CRUISING, though my appreciation of that film has only increased as the years have passed.  I positively loathed it when I saw it on its opening day, in fact until a few years ago, I felt about CRUISING the same way that DR tomovoz feels about BLOOD BROTHERS. . .

Once while walking Minx in Myrtle Beach, we were accosted by a swarm of swallows, they weren't pecking at us or anything like that, they were just flying about us in the hundreds; the one time in my life I truly felt like I was in Hitchcock's movie. . . .

So, if they won' let you water your lawn, do the yard police cite you for having dead grass?

He wants to tune me on a yearly basis. . .well, he wants to tune the piano once a year.  When he does, that'll be my once-a-year-day.   ;)

Oh, I love getting swarmed by swallows!

I saw some swallow swarms today, but they were overhead.

If I stand on the 7th Avenue bridge this time of year, they'll swoop right by my head.

By the way, the swallows were scooping up flying insects; they aren't interested in people at all.

I ain't lately seen no bird swarms.

But when I was living in Port Deposit, MD, while going to a Navy technical school, I left the house (in which I rented a room) for my car and discovered the field behind the house was covered with thousands of birds.

It was rather quiet, too, and cool.  My heart seemed to be in my throat.  My landlady then walked outside and told me she'd seen many more than that in her day as the migrating flocks usually made daily stopovers in the fall.

I understand neighborhood associations get rather testy with some homeowners, but during mandated water rationing, they won't be able to enforce anything.

I ain't got my economic stimulus check yet.

In the weirdness of government department, I received my economic stimulus check according to the date of the Department of the Treasury's Letter of Notice, approximately five days after that particular letter's date.
Yesterday, in the mail, I received ANOTHER Letter of Notice from the Department of the Treasury, telling me that I will be receiving an economic stimulus payment  by 5/16/08. . .
I've tried getting through on the assistance line to no avail, nor is there any particular way to check this out on the website they advise you to go to. . .
So,  is it possible that there might be yet another ESP check on its way to me before the weekend ? ? ?

DR DearReaderLaura - those swarming swallows were indeed flying around my head, and Minx' head but never actually touching us - I guess Minx had no fleas, nor did I have any insects on me either. . .still it was a heart-pounding experience.

Well... It turned out that the activity at the almost-non-existent gate was revolving a maintenance issue.  So... The first announcement said they were either going to make the repair here or switch out the aircraft.  The most recent announcement said that they have the "part" and maintenance will make the repair here.  Consequently, the flight will be delayed by 45 minutes to an hour.

-Of course, now that everyone else has taken out their laptops, the wireless signal here has gotten really weak and spotty.

My marathon day is over and I'm glad to be home for the evening.  Today there was an all-day conference for which I had to do treasurer stuff at the beginning and end.  I had to leave in the middle to host my brownbag lunch event at the Library.

Tonight I'll be doing laundry and watching the documentary about the recording of Company - can you believe I've never seen that?  Just got it from Netflix.

...And now we will be changing aircraft. There is a flight coming in from JFK that is due in at 3:00 (in about 20 minutes).  Then they will turn that one over and we shall board that one back to NYC.

*As soon as they made the announcement, almost everyone in this waiting area got up to move to Gate 3 in the building next door.  Of course, since the incoming flight has to land, we're still looking at another hour's delay, so... I'm staying put for a little while longer.
