Watching It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad World.  Which I have never seen before.

I think it's safe to say that most films I have never seen before.

I'm Amish.   ;D

One of my all time favorite movies, DR Singdaw! I hope you are enjoying it!

I also have had a most lazy day...a 3 hour nap...and just sitting around watching movies....and my first Bollywood movie of the weekend was TANGO CHARLIE....quite a good (anti)-war film which has a splendid cast of Bobby Deol, Ajay Devgan, Sanjay Dutt, and Suniel Shetty.

The two leading ladies are quite good as well, though they are only in flashback scenes.

The musical numbers were fun, also.

There was also a UK revue of Sondheim's music called "Moving On," which was recorded and which I have, and which I recall had interpolated pre-recorded clips of Sondheim speaking.  But I can't think of any reason why it would have anything to do with Tick Tick Boom.

I will not be attending the reading of THE LAST STARFIGHTER.  All these medications for the MRSA have made me sick to my stomach and very dizzy.  I just can't believe that I have to miss this performance!

I'm sorry, I was afraid that would happen.  Thankfully your lunch date was moved up and you managed to have a nice time together with Fred, Skip & George.

At the urging of many, I became a Costco member today.   I bought some Reese's snack bars - that was the bargain of the day - under five bucks for a carton of forty-two bars.

Be very careful.  One of the temptations of Costco is purchasing large quantities of foods you can’t finish, or worst, shouldn’t. ;D

I have been at the theater this afternoon. We saw "The Wedding Singer."

And...?  Did you enjoy it?

I'm ready THE GLORY, the very large sequel to THE HOPE.  While I don't consider them Herman Wouk's best work, I've been enjoying them.

How about you?

I'm trying very hard to finish Jacqueline Winspear's Messenger of Truth, the 4th in the Maisie Dobbs series.  It's not my favorite and bears out Richard's theory that authors have trouble with #4 in a series.

Next up:  My Home is Far Away, by Dawn Powell, and Still Point (a ballet novel), by Deborah Weisgall.

DR Jeanne-Have you watched any of the shows where they stage the houses to sell?  Admittedly most of those homes can be fixed with a good amount of common sense, such as CLEAN THE KITTY LITTER! ;D

When we sold our last home we were asked a number of times by other realtors if the house had been professionally staged.  We were very flattered since it was us (mostly Keith) that did the staging.  During showings we loaded the car with the cats, kitty litter and the dog.  The dog loved it, the cats weren’t very happy.
My point, I speak from experience.   Bryan did a great job staging his loft following the suggestions of his realtor & his experiences with all our moves.  A good realtor should offer suggestions, and “tarting” up the house shouldn’t be one of them.  The key is to simplify.  The counters should practically be bare.  The contents of closets, cabinets, etc should be loosely filled.  The furniture arranged in a pleasing manor which makes the rooms look open and large.  Possibly some furniture should be stored to accomplish this.  Window treatments should be open so light filters in.
Somehow I have a feeling you don’t need much additional work to accomplish this without a professional or with simply a consultation.

GOOD LUCK!

I know that staging is "the thing" and it was suggested that I don't move totally out of my house before showing. However, I just have too much stuff...so for me having the house very clean with no furniture in it was the way to go. We emphasized move in ready. I sold both houses fairly quickly

I've been watching for Messenger to show up at the used book store, so far I haven't found it.  Since I expect there will be a 5th book, I'll still read it-if I ever find it.

My next book will be small and easy to hold, easy on the wrists. ;D

I have had a nice day. I brought home a painting I bought last week and tried to figure out where to hang it. I chose over the piano and when I got done realized I had a bunch of clutter in that area of the living room so I started moving things.  I was trying to decide what to do with my guitar, I haven't played it in ages and was considering selling it  WAS because I got it out and played it a little. I decided I need to play it more often. Then I played the piano for a while. I haven't done that in ages either.

I went for coffee with Paul and ended up going to sales at two different furniture stores.  I found a great lamp.. so I got it. Well that meant I had to rearrange part of the living room to have  a place for it.  SO, the painting is hung, furniture has been rearranged and I'm really liking it.

DR Cilla, an empty can be better than having too much clutter.  It also helps if there aren't too many "move in ready" homes on the market at the time.  Finding the right price also helps sell a house.

All my rearranging and sorting churned up a lot of dust and now my head is all stuffy.  Of course, being outside by the river here in "Sinus Valley" may have something to do with it, too.

Good Evening!

After waking up from (yet another) nap a couple of hours ago, I went ahead and headed out to join some friends for dinner at Pinch & S'MAC.  All of us ended up choosing our dinner selections from the S'MAC side of the menu, although there were plenty of people choosing from the Pinch side.  Needless to say, a Chopped Salad and a small Cajun Mac'n'Cheese made for a very delicious and filling dinner.  :)

...And then for dessert, we walked down Columbus Ave. a couple more blocks to Magnolia Bakery for some cupcakes and banana pudding.  :)

*Note to any sailors in NYC for Fleet Week - If you happen to stop into Magnolia Bakery, there will be bound to be more than one person in line who would like to buy you a cupcake or two, and/or the management will gladly treat you to one too.  :)

My last house was such a fun bungalow. It was the type of unique house that I knew someone would fall in love with it. We just had to wait for that someone to come along.

;D Sounds like a fun day.

It was.  We have a possibility of storms tonight, but it looks like they may be dissapating before they get here. That's fine with me. Tomorrow is when it's going to get hot, so that's when we have the best chance of storms. Oh Joy

DR Cillaliz - your Sunday forecast sounds like ours for Monday.  We're hoping the storms hold off until after the cookout at our niece's house.

The weather here in NYC continues to be on the "cool" side, which really isn't such a bad thing, but... I actually think I want some warmer - hotter - temps soon.  ???

We've had thunderstorms the past two nights, but they've been very late and haven't been severe. The rain in the night is nice, just hope the severe stuff stays away
