Whew!  I was so nervous.  Page Five and my GG wasn't taken yet.

Gilda Gray - who wishes she could shimmy like her sister Kate!

Good for you, Jack! Yes, it's hard to enter the game late and not have your initals taken. (Not the best grammar, but there's something about that that I find funny.)

My inner net machine is running a tad slow today.  Must be lots of emails in the pipeline.

Mine is also. I would have sworn my ISP went out to lunch a couple hours ago. I logged out and logged back in again on another phone line. Sometimes that helps.

When I think I need inspiration to mow the yard or clean the house, I just start singing "You're entering Grey Gardens" works every time

LOL. Is that the trick to your Power Cleaning Binges, eh?

The ones I've read multiple times are A Mother and Two Daughters and Father Melancholy's Daughter.  Many people like A Southern Family for the rich characterizations - I had trouble getting into it the first time I tried, but ended up loving it.  For my drive to Cleveland this week, I just checked out the audio version of Queen of the Underworld, read by Carrington MacDuffie.

Duly noted. Thanks.

BTW, anyone read any Michael Malone? He's a Southerner who writes a lot about the South. Fine writer, IMHO.

I gotta scoot, anyway. It's gorgeous here today and I'd like a bit of sun.

Well, I'm still getting use to this.  I'm at work and my lunch time is running out, however.  I will post more later.  I am from Portland, Oregon, and my sister and I are planning a trip to NY at the end of July and was hoping to get some tips and make some connections.  Want to see at least 2 to 3 shows.  I'm in early 40's!  I'm excited to be in this online community.  Will post more later!  Thanks for the column.

Gogi Grant was (and still is, unless she passed recently) a terrific singer - her big hit was The Wayward Wind.

Thanks for the info.  I'll check out some of recordings. :)

The library where I work only has her on two different compilation CDs...but it's the same song. :-\

NYC HHW-ers alert:  I have told a Pops choir member of mine who is venturing to NYC for her first time this summer to join the Forum here and get your advice on what to see, where her best bets for getting autographs, etc., might be.  So be nice.   ;D

I just caught up to this post.

Good Afternoon!

Ah... Nothing like a nice hair cut to help keep one cooler now that the summer temps are starting to creep in.

*And, best of all, when I stepped into the barber shop, there was no one there except for the barbers.  No waiting! :)

I'm feeling impatient.

Here's one DR Jose would appreciate:

I'm thinking for the first time in years and years and years and years and years I will get a summer haircut. I haven't had short hair (not that I have long hair now) since I was a child but the approaching summer temperatures make me think it's time this year. If I do it, I will actually see how thin my hair is on top and how I will look when it begins receding even faster than it does now.

Now I feel stupid.  I see he posted early this morning.  Anyhow, I made a note of Generous George's.  Will be staying at the Algonquin end of July.  I'm totally new at NY stuff so where is George's compared to that hotel?
