Good news from/for my co-worker.  The blaze was put out and firefighters will remain in the area to ensure it doesn't flare up again...at least for the next 24 hours.

He's relieved.

Finally some good news, somewhere in the world!   :)

Very hot here today.....and no rain expected....until tomorrow and Friday.  Selling tickets for FOOTLOOSE tonight, so good weather would be most appreciated.

Good morning, everyone!  I didn't have a chance to sign on yesterday.  I have good news!  I have an interview today so great vibes my way would be much appreciated!  I'm still working at the old job but they are really great about my starting to interview elsewhere.  I will let you all know what happens.  It is a temp to hire position however but pays pretty good.  We shall see...

Back from one errand.  Next up is late breakfast with Lauren - I shall only eat eggs - either Hugo's Pasta Papa or some sort of bacon and eggs.

Where's the Beef (Wellington) in Los Angeles?

It's apparently on the menu at:

Le Petit Chateau
4615 Lankershim Blvd.
North Hollywood, CA 91602
1.818.769.1812
http://www.lepetitchateau.org

The menu description:

La Mignonette de Boeuf, Lord Wellington
(filet mignon, wrapped in a pastry shell with paté)
$29.95

Last night, I came home from work and didn't turn on my computer.  I just started watching "Little Big Man," starring Dustin Hoffman.  I love this movie.  I had recorded it from TCM on my DVR and had set my DVD burner to record it from the DVR so that I could burn a DVD of it.  While watching it last night (from the DVD burner hard drive), I was also setting chapter breaks for the DVD that I burned after watching it. :)

A review of the Beef Wellington-serving Le Petit Chateau, posted Oct. 27, 2007, on the chowhound.com Web site:

Lord Wellington Has a Beef With Me
After several years we made it back out to North Hollywood for a little time warp food at Le Petit Chateau. Beef Wellington was the goal and we scored like David Beckham (before he went on injured reserve) on a penalty shot. The filet they used was top notch, and they cooked it a beautiful rare to med. rare - as ordered. A little boat of bordelaise sauce, some nicely underdone baby vegetables and some potatoes au gratin rounded out the meal. My wife, who cannot get enough pate, acutally had the pate appetizer before the Welly came and I tried their Caesar salad which has a really tasty dressing with enough zing to satisfy my palate. We ended with their bread pudding. The next time we intend on closing with the crepe suzette for two. With 2 before dinner drinks, one glass of cabernet and coffee for both of us we were out the door for $130, plus tip.

Our waiter, (John) was great. This is a place that gives not even the slightest whiff of snobbery, and they set you up with glasses of iced tap water followed by a little amuse to start, (crepe wrapped salmon mousse).

If you like Wellington this is the best place we have found, by far. And we have tried it at Bistro Garden, 4 Seasons in B. Hills, and Josie (those were all by special arrangement). We are going back next month to do it again, (in fact we made the reservation before we left to come home).

After "Little Big Man," I watched "Death at a Funeral," that I've had from Netflix for several weeks. ::) Now, I can turn it in and get another movie.  Last month, I changed my Netflix account to only have one movie at a time, mainly because I don't watch them right away after I get them.  I recently realized that I don't need to pay $18+ to have three movies for several weeks without watching them when I can pay just $10 or so to hang on to one movie at a time. ;)

Oh they will. The weather changes so much her and so fast that everyone pays attention. I was really involved at the lakes during the floods of '93. Everyone pretty much stopped whatever they were doing, put on gloves and joined the sandbagging.

We might get up to 3 inches of rain tonight here. I'm starting to worry a little about the Missouri - haven't looked at it in awhile, think I'll go drive down there and see what's happening

Aside from the faux "reviewer" prose, it sounds very good, although I don't do rare to medium rare - I like my meat COOKED, baby, not moving around on the plate.

Certainly it's close by, and I'm sure I've been in the restaurant several times - if it's what I'm thinking it is, it's literally just up the street from Universal Studios - I'll check it out on yelp, too.
