Hello, everyone.

Our heat wave is over, but the temps are still in the high 80's and that's just too hot for me. I may be a perpetual grump until fall.

All of the rain and pollen caught up with me today, and I am home from work and suffering a bit.....not like DR GINNY....but in a slighter way.

I went over to rottentomatoes.com, a site I truly loathe, to check out some reviews for The Happening.

Try THIS SITE instead...    :)

Click on the movie you're interested in, and then scroll down.

I went over to rottentomatoes.com, a site I truly loathe, to check out some reviews for The Happening.  It's not a pretty picture from most of the major critics, I must say.

Yeah, the site DR singdaw posted.  ;)

But it was interesting reading some of the mixed-to-positive reviews of "The Happening".  I think.

I just spoke with her.  She's high and dry in Sioux City.  And will most likely be posting momentarily.

DR ArnoldMBrockman, thank you so much for asking and thank you DR Jose for calling to check on me.   Something, perhaps the dome of stench, has protected Sioux City thus far.  While we are at the confluence of the Big Sioux, The Missouri and the Floyd Rivers, none of them are flooded at this point in time.

The tornado at the Boy Scout Ranch was about 45 miles from here, but we haven't been hit by a tornado yet.

So we are absolutely fine

Not always!

"Rose's Turn" has a lyric, "Gypsy" has lyrics.

der Brucer

Actually, I got into this debate with sondheim's publisher when they published my choral arrangement of "Our time." On the manuscript, I'd written "lyric by Stephen Sondheim," and they changed it to "Lyrics." According to the publisher, "Rose's Turn" would be lyrics, not lyric.

Now, if I wanted to go to Federal Court in Cedar Rapids (the seat of our District) I wouldn't be able to get there.   The  Federal Building is the cement color building on the left. The one in the middle of the river is either the County Courthouse or City Hall, can't remember. Behind that is the Lynn County Jail

The Federal Building is going to be a mess. Apparently they moved some archives off the floor of the basement. but left them in the basement. The water is now over the door height on the first floor. What you see on the parking ramp is the second level, the first is totally under water

Well, as for my thoughts... See above.

However, I have to say Betty Buckley really does give quite the "performance" as Mrs. Jones.

POSSIBLE "THE HAPPENING" SPOILER

I think I had figured out the "reason" for what was happening in "The Happening" - well, at least why it happened to some people and not others.  There is a lot of talk about math in the movie, and I suspect certain numbers are the key to figure it out.  God knows, no reason was given for it in the movie.  -Oh, but it was fun seeing the different ways the director/writer chose to kill off people - and those events were certainly less laugh-inducing than somemost of the dialog.

I see the dreadful Victoria Clark is in the credits.

I like rottentomatoes.com. They collected all of our "Cream of the Crop" reviews (Variety, etc.) for SACCO AND VANZETTI, and gave us a 100% approval rating...therefore, a "fresh tomato"!

Hope that doen't mean we have salmonella!

Glad to see you here, DR Cillaliz.  I'm watching the flood coverage on TV and was wondering about you.

Think I'm gonna sign off and disconnect for a while - there's a thurnderstorm developing.

Bye for now!
